Aldi power drill €25 from HUKD.ie

    This seems really cheap. Are Aldi drills useful to have around to do the odd bit of DIY? Anyone have one?

    For home use I see no problem with these. Its cheap and will do the job.
    Nice price, could last for years doing the odd job around the house.

    Yes I've had a previous generation ALDI drill - they were fine for DIY - not up to Ryobi or Makita standard, but fine for around the house.

    The older parkside stuff was excellent I have one on its third set of batteries, gearbox is alloy, jacobs chuck, very tough stuff you can hardly tell its a drill anymore its so fecked looking but it keeps motoring.

    The new powercraft ones however I got a set of 5 with 4 batteries for a fiver locally, the motor brushes are tiny - pure junk but I only wanted the batteries which are fine.

    The plus side is if you use it at all its guaranteed to give up withing the 3 year warranty period so keep the receipt and return it when it does. But i wouldn't be relying on it in a job.

    True enough - the ALDI ones I had/have were Parkside - bigger green yokes. Batteries are pretty shagged but the rest is still OK. So I don't know about the newer ones. Still - for €25....hard to go wrong. Will be better than Black & Decker or the own-brands at Woodies. Just remember to photocopy the thermal receipt (which will fade).

    Hang onto that parkside one you can get the parkside batteries from aldi for €20 its a better investment than a new drill for sure.

    I thought Parkside is a make sold by Lidl not Aldi. Maybe Im wrong?

    You are right.Parkside is sold by Lidl.
