Just outside Sheffield there was a house called 'The Old Post Office' when it was demolished and a new house put there - they called it the 'Old Old Post Office'

I used to pass a house years ago on the Howth Road in Dublin and it was called 'Rivendell'. I was a big Tolkien fan at the time so thought that was funny. I'm not sure if it's still there now.

    The old rectory

My mates house is called "The Old Rectory"

    Let me explain

He lives in a nice house / castle which is 5 mins walk from a church.
Back in the day I'd say a priest lived there whom worked in the church.

Hence the name - not really odd now is it !

My aunt out in Australia had a holiday home named "RipNelly" One day I asked her where did she come across the name, She replied, "My daughter found a cross at the end of the garden with the words RIP Nelly on it". :p (Probably someone's pet). MY Aunt is now RIP.
