Diseqc cable length????

    Hi Again,

    Finally got dish mounted on side of house, Triax110, and will now start fitting the 4 quad LNB's, to feed 3 diseqc switches for 2 receivers, one single feed and a Foxsat HDR with twin feed.

    I have read somewhere that the shorter the cable run from the LNB to the Diseqc the better, what is considered a long or short run? :confused:

    Is 3m long or would it be ok? :D

    3m should be fine from lnb to switch (if it matters at all, probably just to encounter the switch losses where the signal is strongest).

    Have you aligned the dish for 26E yet?

    I have only mounted dish and aligned it "roughly" using compass and point of reference from Dishpointer.

    Sat World are out of the LNB holder that I intend to use, but hope to get it by weekend.

    I wanted to know if 3m was ok as I can start fitting the cables to the LNB's, 4 quad LNB', that is 16 lengths of cable and connections, never mind the Diseqc connections, fiddly stuff..............

    It will speed things up when I come to fit them.

    I have about 20m of (pre-installed) rg59 between 1 receiver and a diseqc switch and it worked fine.

    We're talking about the distance between lnb & switch (& RG59 must be useless at satellite IF frequencies).

    My main concern would be saving cable. There shouldn't be a problem locating switches close to the dish.

    Shouldnt use RG59 cable it is badly screened cable and is mostly used for security cameras. Three meters of cable will be fine. Let us know how u get on.

    even 25 m it ok from a dish (lnb) to a diseque swich..:)

    I don't see the logic in that, apart from convenience.

    It's best to maintain a strong signal as far as possible down the cable in order to minimise the effects of external interference and noise generated within the cable.
