Depends on how well books are kept, but for a man who was on Dragons Den and offering consultancy advice, it's unforgivable.

For an accountant it would be unforgiveable.

As I understand it creditors interests were not threatened by his actions and that for me would be the ethical consideration.

I don't care which of the lying FFers is going for president Gallagher , Bertie , Callely ,o Dea

It just doesn't make sense to have a liar in the aras

Well it's money taken out of the company by a director, that would have been available to pay other creditors, so that's very debatable.

Being on a tv show doesn't make you an accounting consultant.

fg and labour supporters are desperate

Can't speak for them but I do know that Gallagher is not suitable

Are you a general FFer, or just a blinkered fan of Gallagher's, to come out with the above laughable generalisation ?

I was thinking hard about giving Gallagher a number 2 or 3 vote. Was for the last few weeks. But all the nonsense about the money, didn't pay this, took a loan here, accountants to blame, wrong accounts blah blah blah. It's the exact same excuses as the rest of them, the ones who piled drived this country into the ground.

I did give Gallagher the benefit of the doubt, and really wanted to believe him. But there is no doubt in my mind, he is old school FF, and the same guff coming out.:(

Think i said about 3 times already not party supporter of any party, are you ?
didn't look at sean g till i saw these these mud sling post's,so wondered what are these fg and labour and other candidates supporters afraid of,
The fact in a poll sean g got tops in poll so supporters hit the panic button
strange, there's more post's now about sean g and this will probably
help sean g more with negative media etc,
much the same as what sf are hoping for for mmg

That would be a bizarre thing to claim! Hence I didn't.

He's a Company Director, on Dragons Den and offering Consultancy advice,

He should up to date on Company Law, particularly pertaining to Directors.

In otherwords, a Director showing that lack of knowledge on Director loans:

    I'm out.

It makes your posts much easier to read, sadly probably not more coherent, but certainly easier to read.

I assume " one of these things is not like the other" is referring to the fact that Sean Gallagher is not like o dea , Callely or Bertie?

Do tell ........ what makes Gallagher different,??

The point is either he knew or he ought to have known.

Being a company director carries with it a number of serious personal responsibilities and obligations, which it is the duty of all company directors to acquaint themselves with.

The more I see of SG the more he reminds of Bertie ... cut from the same cloth.
    Will we never learn?

Gallagher was on Newstalk again today. Apart from the spoof about when he resigned from FF, and waffle about his accounts (now the book-keepers fault, apparently), he answered some questions very directly:

He's pro-choice. He has no problems with gay marriage. He's against the death penalty in all circumstances. He's a Roman catholic, but refers to his God as a higher power, and told a joke (with the worst delivery ever) suggesting that he's actually more of a Unitarian.

Not a typical old-school FFer. I'm OK with all of that, but I wonder how it will go down with the Labhras Ó'Murchú wing of the party.

gallagher is a chancer and a spoofer in a smart suit, irish people seem to be drawn to this kind of person, if he ends up as president it will show me that we will always have these spiv kind of characters running things, i cant believe this guy has a chance to win,

I also listened to the interview , and found his answers to be still slippery regarding his membership of FF and his financial matters.

This man will hopefully not be our president .

I would rather Ivor Callely to be president

Absolutely. Considering it could be viewed as a way to either save about 10k on interest compared to a bank loan or way to get money tax free from your company knowing that normally charges aren't pressed if the loan is repaid, so you have nothing to lose even if you are caught.

And as mentioned above, for someone charging €250 per hour to dispense commerical advice not to be aware of the illegality of such loans leaves you to conclude that he is either a chancer (his advice is just hot air) or a chancer (with regards to trying to pull a fast one).

Either way he won't be getting a vote from me.

I really hope that this is true , another FF shyster in high office would be too much to take

I,for one am getting very fed up of Sean Gallagher beating around the bush about his ''sporadic'' links with Fianna Fail and so forth.
As far as I can see he was up to his neck in Fianna Fail but ran for the
hills when he saw they were going to be annihilated.
Also being a President for to create jobs...... That is not the job of the President and he/she has no power to do that [ Waffle.... Designed to sound good with the electorate ] For God's sake the President can't even leave the country without permission from the Government.
If Sean Gallagher wanted to make a difference why didn't he run in the General Election last February..
Was going to vote for him last week but I won't now.
Even Dana sounds more appealing to me (and thats saying something) because she comes across as being more honest and sincere.

To be honest, none of these candidates are suitable for office of president of Ireland,2011 and you think we have better candidates to chose from but hence ,No we don't.

A shady customer IMO, too like the smirking Ahern as was posted earlier. We are all eejits and all his BS talk. He needs a job and that is what he is after. He looks like a dictator from the former Soviet bloc with the charisma to boot. No thanks, he would not even be in the running only for Marty.

You don't like anyone a member of FF or connected to FF,that's your choice
but comment's like this don't add any constructive criticism to post.
Do you know any of candidate's personally ?,Do you know who's more passionate about Ireland or not ?
So you don't like him ,so be it.
I don't like what FF did to country either but I'm not going same route as other's
    here.
Next week will probably will be dirtiest week for most candidates.
It's like a bad tv show this election.
Was there this much with election ?

Really, the British Royal family regularly go on trade missions and that is Prince Andrews job -seconded to the British Board of Trade.

I dont know of the Queen eats pork pies but I once saw a picture of her visiting a factory in a trade brochure for the asian market.

So maybe it would not be a bad thing if our presidents got off their arses every so often and supported the Irish Economy and earned the money for their pampered and luxurious existance.

What trade value did we get from our last presidents ???
