Yeah but they do seem to be very influenced for most part by stones from tracks I have heard.
that said quite like this collaboration

Primal Scream are set to play their 1991 album 'Screamadelica' in full on a UK tour in March.

The band had previously announced they would perform the seminal Andrew Weatherall-produced album at two London shows in November, but have now confirmed seven further dates in the UK, starting in Leeds on March 14.

    Primal Scream will play:

    London Olympia (November 26, 27)
    Leeds O2 Academy (March 14)
    Birmingham O2 Academy (15)
    Newcastle O2 Academy (16)
    Glasgow SECC (18)
    Manchester Apollo (19)
    Brighton Centre (22)
    London O2 Academy Brixton (25)

Do you reckon there's any chance of an Irish date being added?

Screamadelica's greatness doesn't need any further elaboration.

    Vanishing Point is also excellent

Xtrmntr has some great stuff on it - the "MBV Arkestra" track (which is largely the work of Kevin Shields) is astonishing - but as with some of their other albums Bobby Gillespie's lyrics and singing let it down in places.

Guys, please avoid discussing Scremadelica any further. The Wicklow mod has made his decision and no further discussion is required

Does anyone have the original cut of Screamadelica with the full, copyright-trampling versions of Higher than the Sun and Come Together?

Wildly overrated IMO ... apart from "Velocity Girl", which was class.
I'm with you there. Crystal Crescent and Velocity Girl (both on the Crystal Crescent EP) are amazing, and there are some great jangly pop songs on their début LP, Sonic Flower Groove.

Screamadelica can be good when I'm in the mood, but we might as well be talking about two different bands. I don't care much for the lyrics, either; I once saw someone write that "they just write lots of cool- and deep-sounding phrases on bits of paper, throw them in the air and then make a song with the resulting lyrics".

quick and true story. was working in golden discs north earl street back in the day. closing the shop about 1755 on sat eve. phone rings. "Thanks man, have you got rolling stones hot rocks on tape?" eh yeah, but im closing now.

" man its an emergency! bobby wont go on stage tonight if he doesnt hear it!"

eh....none of that makes any sense, but what time can you get here?

"5 minutes man (said man a lot) i would really appreciate it"

ok says i. i was curious at this stage.

5 mins later this crusty old rocker turns up in a taxi tears in his eyes and really grateful.

"thanks man, you saved me" then proceeded to tell me how gilespie went off on one cos he had no stones tape. he had to hear it before he went on stage. the poor guy was was ancient and looked like he was a roady since the 70s.

free tickets and backstage invitations were offered. poor guy.

"Accelerator" is my favourite song ever (no exaggeration). I have a feeling that's kinda weird

I spent an evening in their company when they played Galway in, I think, 1989. A friend of mine promoted the gig and they crashed in a student house on the Lower Newcastle Road afterwards. Really friendly guys, but it was during their MC5/Stooges phase, so the gig wasn't up too much.

They left early the next morning to walk the fairways of a local golf course. They didn't have any golf clubs, but were interested in the flora...

My fave tracks are their cover of Dennis Wilson's "Carry Me Home" (from the "Movin' On Up" EP) and "Velocity Girl".

Bought Screamadelica when it came out, after hearing the more spacy tracks. Love the album but my least fave tracks are the Rolling Stones style efforts.

Listening to them got me into Jah Wobble, The Orb, Gong, Steve Hillage, Beach Boys - there's just so many non-Stones influences going on in that album :)

But Moving on up and Damaged are the best rolling stone type songs they did, i love the the whole album from start to finish the 13th floor Elevators cover "slip inside this house" to denise johnson on "don't fight it feel it" to the sample of Wah wah man by young-holt unlimited trio on "higher then the sun" and Jesse Jackson speech on Come together. Not one duff track on this album and the greatest British album ever dare i say.

They've done some great work after especially XTRMNTR, You can hear the influence on Kasabain for sure. Plus Bobby Gillespie is a great frontman. Andrew Innes The genuis behind the band.

I saw tham at Féile :o

I've also seen them a couple of times in Dublin in recent years. Always excellent. The best gigs I have ever been to without a shadow of a doubt.

Hmm, Stone Roses might be regrouping

Screamadelica mightn't miss him too much but that's a big hole in the band imo. He's great on stage.

Him saying yesterday that he is on a break from Primal Scream is a fairly big reason.
