I wish I never gambled. I bet 350 on one spin of the roulette wheel. Actually won. Have a friend that won over 10,000 in one night but really if you gamble you will lose...it's pure maths

€50 on an accumulator that would have won me around €19,500. Wigan let me down for a draw :( I'll never bet again! :pac:

Like many others, several thousand on Eircon, and got out fast enough to turn a profit.

More recently, bet E10,000 (minimum bet) on Aer Lingus when it floated. Waited for it to rise by 10% and then took all the money off the table. If i had of stayed a bit longer i would have made a lot more when Ml. O'Leary started buying up, but then again could have held on and be licking my wounds now.

It's all the same, whether betting on a race, football or shares. The only thing with shares is that the bets are a lot bigger, but the race lasts as long as you want it to.

I'd die...i have come close on 2 occassions to winning over a grand, Shamrock rovers let me down twice, in one game they won 5-0 but I had twigg to score twice, the lad never stopped scoring but didnt even get a goal in that game.

I once got £3,600 up on a £15 Lucky 15.... When I was waiting on the last result a lad came into the bookies with an 8/1 tip. I said if my last horse won I'd put down half the winnings on the tip. My horse came in and as I was writing out the docket for the tip I decided instead of putting on the 1,800 I'd make it an even 2,000 ...... That horse should only ever have seen the inside of a glue factory. I could have run the course faster.

Just today I put €30 on Liverpool against Norwich at the weekend. I don't stand to make much even if they win, but it adds to the experience i think.

€380 bet on Diversity to Win BGT. I got great odds too because the bookies thought Susan Boyle would win. A little research on the internet told me differently though...and I was right (and quite a bit richer too).

These talent shows are easy to win bets on. Just check the view total count + ratings on the popular video upload sites, and combine that with some historical data and it's usually fairly easy to predict the winner. About 10% of my yearly income comes from winning bets on them. (They are the only thing I bet on).

    Red or Black?

    First 50 on red - won - had 100
    50 on black - lose
last 50 on black again - lose

was sick to the stomach - even though its nothing compared what others are saying! :p

about 485 I believe in a poker cash game.

Had K J of clubs, guy raised to 80e preflop, decided to call as I had turned 30e into 480 so decided to take a risk, ( one other player did too)

Board came out King queen 6, man bet another 80 so I called other player folded)

A jack came up, he checked, I bet another 80, he called

I bet the last 145 blind and out of turn.

River card threw out a queen, yer man called.

Threw up a queen duece off suit. Closest I've come to hitting an idiot at a poker table.

That is a story of the most piss poor poker playing by your man. I lost my lot in a similar fashion, woke up with KK and it went downhill from there - other dude ended up with a house.

Made it all back recently though with K8 - board KK8 and another lad in the hand with a €250 pot and him sitting there with 88. Happy days :)

It is, honestly put me off playing poker for about 6 months, Nothing worse at 18 than losing to an idiot twice your age and having to pretend to ok with losing rather than beating him to death with a poker for idiots book!!

On the roulette wheel in Vegas, put 100 on black - lost. Doubled up 200 on black- lost. Doubled up 400 on black - lost, doubled up 800 on black - lost . Chickened out to go again. Black won. 1500 down within minutes.

If everton beat Chelsea the other day I would have won over 10k, it was the last game on my Accumulator, it was pure hell watching the game.

20 quid i reckon and do it once a week. Only down 24 quid over the last 2 months tho since i started keeping track of it!!

You bet on EVERTON to beat chelsea? And somehow you felt you were in with a chance?

Henderson missing that header in the last few minutes of the liverpool/united game was a pisser for me- it would have netted me €750 for a €15 euro bet (well it would have netted me 250 and my missus 500, but i prefer to think of all winnings as "ours":))

Oh yea, biggest bet was probably about €200 - €250. Unless you count bank shares were it's about 10k - i made a few quid over all, but my last gamble cost me big! Fúcking banks

They always 'let' you win first time, it's the bookies way of sucking you in and then they will drain every last penny from you unless you knuckle down and study the form!

Just do the odd €3 lotto once every few weeks.

I hear this argument time and time again from poker players. Basically you're saying the other guy was too stupid to loose to you?
    Hmmmm!

Occasionally a bad play will win the hand. And there's nothing more irritating than someone gloating and thinking they played well simply because they won the hand.

Stupidity can win in the short-run but will always go broke in the long run. Idiots only focus on the short run and thus can't understand how they were doing so well only to eventually go broke.

€900 on celtic to beat hamilton about three or four years ago.
    Only won €200.
Was a wee risky for the odds but sure its a gamble ain't it.

I can accept that, but it still sounds like sour grapes. It's a game of both skill AND chance after all. People sometimes do unpredictable things, that's just in the nature of gambling.
