That's a bit cheeky now. He annoys the bejaysus out of me. One thing I will say on this is that I know plenty of pool fans (especially in work) that have come out with the line "I don't care what we do as long as we beat them c*nts".

I think true Pool fans beating United is only a bonus and nothing more

    They're not fans. They're embarressing.

Anybody think that Rooney will have an amazing game tomorrow just to get that ban out of his system? I've a feeling he could get a couple against the 'pool.

Looking forward to the game but nervous, have 'pool supporting mates who turn into morons when United pay Liverpool.

    C'mon UNITED!!!!

getting very nervous about tomorrow. we re starting a hard stretch of games over the next 3 weeks. Liverpool, trip to romania, city and everton is a tough schedule but 7pts from 9 in the league and a win in the CL would be a great return. have a feeling we ll do it tomorrow

    come on you reds

I'm thinking we have to cash in on Berbatov in January if PSG or another decent bid comes in. He is not part of the plans anymore. The thinking was he was a Rooney replacement but today shows that not to be the case. I wouldn't take 8-10m as he is still decent backup but if a silly money bid of 15m+ comes in then it would be good business.

If anything today shows that is the case, why do you need a replacement for Rooney when Rooney's on the bench?

I mean on the pitch obviously, 1st 11. i.e. Rooney/Berba not compatible in the 11 but if Rooney were to drop out like today that Berba would be ideal to slot in. Not my feeling on it but have seen it put forward by others.

Team selection cost us 3 points imo.

Team selection cost us 3 points imo.

technically 2 points but agree with you 100% shocking selection, why did saf give liverpool so much respect there weakest point is defensively,if we had of gone at them with more pace and 2 up front we would have caused them so many more problems?

really baffled by the starting 11

Fúcking ref, how was that a free-kick? Still, the wall was shít, just like last season at Old Trafford. We gave Gerrard half the goal to hit even allowing for Giggs' brainfart.

Hopefully Villa can do us a favour today.

Team selection cost us 3 points imo.

Spot on, there was just not enough up front - and it is not as if the options were not available to him.

With Welbeck and Young the only out and out attacking players, and neither of them a Striker it was always going to be difficult up front.

The only thing the cost us today was the PATHETIC wall for Gerrard's free kick.

I knew, I KNEW as he was shaping it up that it would be a **** free kick at our wall, hoping that someone pussies out, and of all people it was Giggs. Amateurish. Did they not see his free kick at Old Trafford last season?

Free kick practice needed for the next week. That's definitely not the first time our wall has split and cost us a goal

United have been a lot too open so far this season and could have been over run completely. I was shocked to see rooney on the bench and would have preferred him on instead of giggs.

But at least it's another unbeaten game and probably the best start to the season for a long time. Jones played well in midfield

agree we have been to open at times but why did we give liverpool so much respect?
really should have played nani and roo from the start, roo should have played the number 10 position and made it 3 men in the middle when not in possession but pushed up when we had possession.

    really disappointed with starting formation.

i dont think jones really added anything to the midfield that we dont already have there with fletch.

Think Jones needed someone else beside him in midfield other than Feltcher im not his biggest fan hes constantly anonymous

PS come on VILLA! do us a favour

The words I would use to describe the love I feel for Javier Hernández Balcázar are failing me.

Happy with the result. Much better than last season performance. Granted we can't do worse than last season :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,736 ✭✭✭OctavarIan

Point apiece is the deserved result today.

Positives to take away would be the performances of Welbeck and De Gea, thought Welbeck did well enough up front on his own considering how ****e the midfield play was. De Gea looked a bit more confident on corners and made a few good saves.

Hernandez was Hernandez, what a poacher.

After a very promising start to the season ,playing good attacking football ,the old faults in midfield and defence are coming back .

4 poor performances in a row against Stoke,Norwich,Basle and Liverpool.
Only one clean sheet ,a shaky defence and a serious lack of quality in central midfield.
More worrying is the shift to more negative tactics .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,709 ✭✭✭✭Cantona's Collars

Looked like Giggs was afraid of being hit in the nuts by Gerard's free, that part of his anatomy might still be a bit tender after all his riding.;)

I feel we showed Liverpool too much respect, they really aren't that great and if the players left out had started we could have really gone for the win.A bit strange having 3 of our most dangerous attacking players on the bench, another nothing performance from Park-he just doesn't strike fear into defenders in the way Nani does.

At least my phone is quiet after that result:)

De Gea pulled off some excellent saves and Chico doing the business just... speechless.. great poacher.

Overall probably a fair result, some of our touches and decision making in the final third was quite poor. Exemplified perfectly around the 32/33 minute mark when Fletcher makes a very poor long range effort. Yet Young had moved into some excellent free space in front the keeper, all he needed was the pass from Flecth.

We were quite comfortable up until that silly goal and what was Giggs doing breaking from the wall ffs. Some of our young lads did quite well, Wellbeck should be satisfied with his performance today. De Gea made a couple of fine saves and was quite solid. Anyone see Dalglish speaking about De Gea at the end of the game on Sky? Fair play to him, he was quite complimentary toward him.

Hernandez's movement was amazing, watching him twist and spin the defender to get clear for the goal was simply magnificent. It's a rare thing to be happy enough with a draw and considering the overall performance I certainly am.

Happy enough with the point, considering the team selection, the amount of chances Liverpool had towards the end, and generally not playing at our best today.

Giggs in the wall was just plain shocking.
