Just wondering what the story is wit using my phone as a WiFi hot spot to get online on my laptop? Is it free or do you get charged for internet usage?

I'm wit 3 on pre pay and am using the €20 a month for free mobile internet. Does this mean I can use the free internet to connect on my laptop, or will it eat up my credit?

as far as I know you can and it is free but they have extra terms in place just on the payg side of things to fall pack on incase people start taking the pi** with downloads.

don't think they are stopping anyone right now but if your phone is using 3's own firmware then they can tell for sure if you are doing it.

The phone was originally a stock Vodafone hand set but I got it reset to have no specific branding or firmware on it

Was just reading the terms and conditions on Three's site, and found this:

" The data service is available for use with your Three SIM Card in your Three handset only. Tethering or use of the Three handset as, or the sim in conjunction with, a modem is not allowed and may be disabled."
Would this apply to WiFi hot spot?

    Yes.

However, I think they would not have a problem with it as long as the use is light to moderate. I think 2 TB/month is their fair use limit.

Why not ask one of the THREE reps here on boards.ie.
