    I've heard it all now.

Is it crazy or unreasonable to expect that the 8th most expensive player in the history of football should be threatening the upper echelons of the game?

Carroll cost £35 million. That is simply bonkers.

It says a lot about his ability that no United fans I know are the slightest bit concerned about him in relation to tomorrow's game. Suarez is obviously a threat but Carroll will be dealt with easily and it's shocking to be able to say that about the 8th most expensive player in the history of football.

I mean Jesus H Christ people..."Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo, Carroll"...

If you and other Man Utd supporters are not concerned about Carroll why do you all keep posting about him then?

    By the way Carroll is not the 8th most expensive footballer of all time;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_(association_football)#Highest_fees

He is actually the joint 13th most expensive. Don't let that ruin a good arguement though.

Good to see you back posting in the soccer forum. Where were you gone?

    Again you're misleading people.

That list is "inflation adjusted" rather than a straight list.

Notwithstanding the above, whether he's 8th, 10th or 13th (which he's not), it's utterly ridiculous.

Do you still think that Carroll and Ibrahimovic are comparable? If you do, then your knowledge of the game is questionable to say the least.

Come back in 7 years time and say it's ridiculous, give him the goddamn time to be what he is, a buy for the future.

Because in my view the guy that many Liverpool fans will be pinning their hopes on is a poor player relative to the others that will be on show.

The fact that Carroll will be on the pitch tomorrow is great for United. The more non world class players the opposition have, the better it is for United.

I'm worried about Suarez and that's really about it. Carragher is in terminal decline and Gerrard won't be up to speed.

God I cannot wait for this game tomorrow...Liverpool are due a hiding at Anfield from United and it could be tomorrow.

United to win by at least two clear goals.

Spending £35 million on "one for the future" is outrageous.

You spend in the £7 million region for one for the future (e.g. Chicarito).

No other club in the history of football has spent that sort of money on a player who wasn't world class straight away.

I have very little respect for the opinion of anyone who thinks that Carroll's £35 million price tag isn't absolutely ridiculous. I've said it before and I'll say it again...pound for pound he's the worst signing in the history of English football.

Did I read in this thread Rooney playing so well is an aberration...looks at thread title...leaves quietly, without mentioning better season 2 seasons ago than any Liverpool player has had in my lifetime...

Going by that statement United will have 2/3 players "not up to speed" Rio, Vidic and Fletch all just back from injury

Sean Bateman, will you come on here and eat your words if Andy Carroll scores the winner tomorrow?

Because if he does you're going to have a lot of threads thrown back at you.

No he cost £35 million  No matter what way you look at it. I don't want to hear the 'we got 15m+ Torres', which I'm sure is what you are trying to say. How much did Antonio Valencia, Javier Hernandez and pretty much all United's signings since Ronaldo cost if you are using this barometer?

no need to quote the fúcking picture

Lets just hope Welbeck scores one more than Carroll.

All this bitching about this player and that player is ridiculous. Give it a rest!

Jeez I dont envy Slick and the other mods tomorrow .

This fixture must be a thorn in their side twice a season , but going by the absolute crap spouted so early and IMO never seen before on this match thread so far , I think they have their work cut out .
