I'd be seriously disappointed if we didn't win tomorrow.

    2 maybe 3-1.

Neither side have been in their best form as of late, but with the internationals who knows what will happen. I guess Rooney and his mindset will be the key.

About Carroll, put it this way, if Liverpool have him for 10 years, they pay £3.5 million each year - if he produces the goods each year, that could be construed as not a bad deal. He was not bought to be the best thing in the world right away, but I think Sean fails to grasp that part of football anyway consistently.

If I were united I'd be looking to exploit Carragher's lack of pace at every turn, and if I were Pool I'd attack Evra at any opportunity, and also look to exploit Jones running out of position if he plays.

As for which Pool players would make it into Utd's XI, I say 5. Reina, Kelly, Enrique, Lucas, Suarez. To go with Vidic, Smalling, Anderson/Cleverly, Rooney, Nani and Young

I wouldn't say Liverpool are journeymen, nearly every player in the team is under 30. You won't find many journeymen playing for a quality club like Liverpool tbh.

I'll give you a reason why Liverpool will win the league soon, we are the coming force in English football, with the best player in the premier league (Suarez) and a manager with a proven history of winning leagues.
Liverpool's cup final will be whichever one they win this season, but the United game is a massive one and one which Liverpool win with alarming regularity.

Regarding youth systems, I'd love to know where you get your information from, Liverpool have one of the best youth systems around and are producing plenty of quality players, after the reform introduced by Rafa.

I think you are slightly wrong there Sean. We're in the process of building a new stadium so not to worry there, also Carroll scored during his last game, so he can score and I fancy the English Zlatan Ibrahimovic to knock one in on Saturday.

Yes Carragher is over the hill, but hey so is Ferdinand although his 8 months off for drug cheating should add years to his career. And Gerrard is far from injury ravaged. He ain't Owen Hargreaves.

With Liverpool having a consistent record of beating United in the league I think according to form Liverpool will win. We have won our last three in a row, United haven't, thus Liverpool are the form team. All indicators point to a Liverpool victory.

To be honest I quite like our stadium, at least the majority of fans attend from that city, not from London and Anfield doesn't attract the prawn sandwich brigade unlike other teams.

    Hi Bamboozling

To be honest, there's a lot of misinformation contained in your above post.

    - The majority of Liverpool's first team squad are journeymen. Only Reina, Suarez and Gerrard would be coveted by the big clubs in England (e.g. United, Chelsea and City).

    - How are Liverpool the "coming force in English football"? That's City. Your statement sounds more like your wish than reality. Liverpool have gone from Champions League regulars to Champions League non regulars. That's a team in decline rather than in the ascendancy.

    - Suarez is not the best player in the league. If he was, big clubs would have gone in for him. Rooney, Aguero and Tevez are better to name but a few.

    - Comparing Carroll to Ibrahimovic is mad as is thinking all's well 'cause he scored against Everton.

    - Liverpool do not win this fixture with alarming regularity...since the Premiership's inception, United have won 20 times and Liverpool have won 11 times. That's almost double.

    - At what stage of the stadium building process are Liverpool at - Sticking pins in maps?!

United are top of the league and the reigning league champions...Liverpool are a shambles. All logic points to a relatively comfortable United victory.

    I'm on our side.

I cannot stand the majority of Liverpool fans. Their sense of entitlement despite their abject mediocrity is breathtaking.

I particularly like their "Chelsea FC...you aint got no history" rubbish. It invites the retort "but your team is sh1te lads?"

It's like listening to stories about how great Blackpool, Preston North End or Forest were back in the day.

Get over it lads...it's game over...Liverpool will go a hell of a lot longer than our 26 years before winning the league again (and even then it'll probably be the Championship that they win).

Keep waving your ridiculous flags, keep singing that embarrassing song, keep up the faux applause for basic play in a vain attempt to appear superior and more knowledgable fans and for some bizarre reason keep saying "Liverpool Foootball Club" all the time just in case anyone thinks that you're talking about Liverpool Bowls Club.

We'll just keep harvesting trophies and adding seats to Old Trafford.

this is not debate; this is not friendly banter.

    you're acting the díck.

    cop the fúck on.

I'm sure Enrique would get into your team, and I daresay Lucas would too. As a personal preference I'd also have Kelly but I know many will disagree over that.

    Hi Bamboozling

To be honest, there's a lot of misinformation contained in your above post.

    No there isn't.
    - The majority of Liverpool's first team squad are journeymen. Only Reina, Suarez and Gerrard would be coveted by the big clubs in England (e.g. United, Chelsea and City).

    From wikipedia,
In association football, a journeyman is a player who has represented many different clubs over his career.

There are very few of them in Liverpool's squad. All are top 10 premier league standered.
    - How are Liverpool the "coming force in English football"? That's City. Your statement sounds more like your wish than reality. Liverpool have gone from Champions League regulars to Champions League non regulars. That's a team in decline rather than in the ascendancy.

You may have failed to notice, but from January onwards Liverpool had the 2nd highest points total and have started this season brightly. #coming force
    - Suarez is not the best player in the league. If he was, big clubs would have gone in for him. Rooney, Aguero and Tevez are better to name but a few.

Aguero perhaps, but Suarez outshone all in the last world cup and Aguero and Tevez at the Euro's. Rooney has started the season well but his current form is an abberation, like his form this time last season. His real ability is somewhere inbetween.
    - Comparing Carroll to Ibrahimovic is mad as is thinking all's well 'cause he scored against Everton.

They have a similar skill set, both are tall powerful and pacey also.
    - Liverpool do not win this fixture with alarming regularity...since the Premiership's inception, United have won 20 times and Liverpool have won 11 times. That's almost double.

Within the last three years Liverpool have won 4 outta 6. #Alarming regularity.

Also when did English football start in 1992? I must have missed that memo.
    - At what stage of the stadium building process are Liverpool at - Sticking pins in maps?!

No, the design stage. We would have it built by now but for Hicks and Gillete.
United are top of the league and the reigning league champions...Liverpool are a shambles. All logic points to a relatively comfortable United victory.

Liverpool are far from a shambles. You have been categorically wrong on De Gea. All form and logic points to your ill informed opinion being categorically incorrect. #Wrong again.

Jesus, the muppetry has started early in this one. What's the banning handicap betting? I'll go for Mods + 3.

I think it's going to be an interesting game. United haven't been tested in the Premier League this season and it'll be interesting to see how their young squad handles the pressure of playing at Anfield. Dalglish's team selection will also be crucial. You'd have to think that he'll start with Kuyt instead of Henderson and Suarez up front with Gerrard in behind him.

Ah here that's just nonsense. Chelsea at home and Stoke, West Brom away were big tests.

Agree with the rest of your post though.

Your posts appear to be some sort of futile attempt to "take me on". You're failing miserably but that's probably a function of the terrible material you're forced to work with.

You claimed that Suarez is the best player in the league. You've now back up that particular truck.

You've also (like many Liverpool fans tend to do) chosen to examine a particular period of time that has no relevance. Compare Liverpool's results in games at 5.30 on a Saturday and perhaps they're the dominant force in English football over the last 15 years?

You're happy to cite the last 6 games but complain when I cite a more useful sample (all Premiership games over the last circa 20 years). United have dominated Liverpool. Expect that to continue tomorrow.

As for De Gea, how have I been proven wrong? At best, the jury's still out.

You can come up with bizarre definitions of the word "journeyman" all you like, but when it comes to knowledge and facts, your posts are poor.

At least he actually seems to believe the points he is making. They are the same stuff you hear said about Liverpool every week in the pubs and some of them are actually reasonable.

On the other hand his nemesis is clearly acting the wum taking about the Premiership's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Suarez being the best, Liverpool's beating United with alarming consistency (Last 4 games are 3-1 in United's favour ), and prawn sandwiches. Yet no charges

    they're both at it.

and in this case they've both been PM'd now and told to stop or they're gone.

    1. believing Carroll is Zlatan is a stupid opinion that shouldn't offend anyone.

    2. lots of people, including many journalists, believe Suarez is up there with the best in the League.

    3. Liverpool have beaten Utd regularly at home recently. if he wants to be that confident, that's his prerogative.

Sean was the one who went completely OTT with that one post which is why he got infracted this time, but as i say they've both been warned.

now please, no discussion of mod decisions on thread, or we'll have to take action as per the charter.

I get the pun alright :D

In hindsight the post the mod quoted was a bit OTT. But I think either let them both go on or stop both, not one or other.

Bateman (unusually) has actually made some decent points here

EDIT: Just seen your post RIC, fair enough

    I've heard it all now.

Is it crazy or unreasonable to expect that the 8th most expensive player in the history of football should be threatening the upper echelons of the game?

Carroll cost £35 million. That is simply bonkers.

It says a lot about his ability that no United fans I know are the slightest bit concerned about him in relation to tomorrow's game. Suarez is obviously a threat but Carroll will be dealt with easily and it's shocking to be able to say that about the 8th most expensive player in the history of football.

I mean Jesus H Christ people..."Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo, Carroll"...

Applause rather than silence is a great idea. It's an equally fitting tribute and the clowns don't get to disrupt it.

I often struggle to focus properly on a game whilst following a match thread. So I often close laptop and watch match and comment at half time etc.(How do people put goal comments up just as the ball hit the net?)

However, after looking at a lot of this thread I have a dilemma as I'm considering I'll get more entertainment by keeping TV off tomorrow and just follow the thread.

Defo think there'll be more cards and own goals here tomorrow than at Anfield.

    By the way Carroll is not the 8th most expensive footballer of all time;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_(association_football)#Highest_fees

He is actually the joint 13th most expensive. Don't let that ruin a good arguement though.
