Is that for Jack Marshall- I think it will be well observered, if ppl don't- they really are low lives

Yeah it is indeed for Jack Marshall. Would much rather see a minutes applause for these type of things as there is inevitably one fan/some fans that interrupt the minutes silence.

Just on team news for United, Cleverley has been ruled out as he hasnt recovered from his injury and Rafael is still out too.

The Everton fan, Rhys Jones's two minute silence at Anfield a few years back went down without issues. Hopefully it'll be the same case this time around, though there's always some idiots as we all know at football grounds.

We needed a winger as bad, if not worse than a CB!
There's a lot to be said for getting the big signings in first and leave the rest of the window to sign Enrique, Bellamy and Coates. Deals can fall down easily if it's left to the last minute.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Liverpool win but I hope to christ UTD hammer them!!

I'm just happy it's early kick off on Sat, I couldn't wait for the later kick off on Sunday!

I'm hoping United put the extra man in midfield. Liverpools closing down has killed them in the last few anfield games.

It's about time Rooney showed up at Anfield to. I'll go for a 1-0 Man Utd win.

Utd are rightly favourites for this, but there're some amount of condescending utd fans in this thread.

    no there isn't.

you just don't like reading posts about how good United are compared to Liverpool

It's not condescending to point out facts.

United are the reigning league champions and are top of the league this season and unbeaten. Their star player is the league's top scorer this season. United have been in three of the last four Champions League finals.

Liverpool's form over the last few season's has been pathetic for a club of their alleged stature. They've failed to reach the Champions League at all for the last two seasons and didn't make Europe at all last season. Their £35 million striker cannot score and is being touted as one of the biggest flops in the history of English football. Their much heralded centre half is clearly over the hill and is forced to resort to fouling people and their talismanic captain is little more than an injury ravaged shadow of his former self. They're stuck in a mickey mouse 40,000 seater stadium and don't have the resources to compete with the likes of United.

Based on the facts, United should win comfortably. Liverpool may win based on the vagaries of football but I know which camp any sane person would prefer to be in. It's nicer to be hoping that this goes according to the form book rather than clutching at the "we always raise our game for United" straw.

    Liverpool 1 United 3

    I'd rather walk alone.

Man, this thread is going to be spectacular tomorrow. If the result goes right for me, I will enjoy reading it at some stage.

But as a wise man once said, its better to remain a silent fool than open your mouth and leave us in no doubt. ;)

    Enjoy the match peoples!

And the League. Losing only 4 while the 'mighty' Pool lost 11, with a GD of +4 while the 'outstanding' Reds had -11.

Has a match thread ever been closed(permanently) before a match even started? Just wondering

Anyway, C'mon the Pool tomorrow! f*ck the haters! :)

    I'm on our side.

I cannot stand the majority of Liverpool fans. Their sense of entitlement despite their abject mediocrity is breathtaking.

I particularly like their "Chelsea FC...you aint got no history" rubbish. It invites the retort "but your team is sh1te lads?"

It's like listening to stories about how great Blackpool, Preston North End or Forest were back in the day.

Get over it lads...it's game over...Liverpool will go a hell of a lot longer than our 26 years before winning the league again (and even then it'll probably be the Championship that they win).

Keep waving your ridiculous flags, keep singing that embarrassing song, keep up the faux applause for basic play in a vain attempt to appear superior and more knowledgable fans and for some bizarre reason keep saying "Liverpool Foootball Club" all the time just in case anyone thinks that you're talking about Liverpool Bowls Club.

We'll just keep harvesting trophies and adding seats to Old Trafford.

You're contending that Liverpool players would make up more than 50% of a combined United/Liverpool XI?

And you're also contending that Rooney is "just edging out Andy"? Andy who? Andy Capp? Andy Cole? Andy Shevchenko?

That's crazy talk, Bamboozling. Liverpool are nothing more than a just about above mid table bunch of journeymen with two classy players (Reina and Suarez) and two washed up former classy players (Gerrard and Carragher). Perhaps they'll overachieve against United this weekend and get a result (as lesser teams do on occassion)? But that just shows where Liverpool have become - A mickey mouse cup team whose cup final is any match with United.

Liverpool are dead and buried as a force in English football. Lest we forget, Villa won the European Cup. Give me one good reason why Liverpool can leap frog United, City and Chelsea to win the League in the next 25 years? Their stadium is rubbish, their owners haven't the readies to fund the necessary squad rebuilding, the squad just isn't good enough and youth won't come through because their rivals can afford the best young talent and the geographical rules for young player recruitment are being relaxed which will further hamper lesser teams like Liverpool.

    It's game over, Bamboozling.

I wouldn't say Liverpool are journeymen, nearly every player in the team is under 30. You won't find many journeymen playing for a quality club like Liverpool tbh.

I'll give you a reason why Liverpool will win the league soon, we are the coming force in English football, with the best player in the premier league (Suarez) and a manager with a proven history of winning leagues.
Liverpool's cup final will be whichever one they win this season, but the United game is a massive one and one which Liverpool win with alarming regularity.

Regarding youth systems, I'd love to know where you get your information from, Liverpool have one of the best youth systems around and are producing plenty of quality players, after the reform introduced by Rafa.

I think you are slightly wrong there Sean. We're in the process of building a new stadium so not to worry there, also Carroll scored during his last game, so he can score and I fancy the English Zlatan Ibrahimovic to knock one in on Saturday.

Yes Carragher is over the hill, but hey so is Ferdinand although his 8 months off for drug cheating should add years to his career. And Gerrard is far from injury ravaged. He ain't Owen Hargreaves.

With Liverpool having a consistent record of beating United in the league I think according to form Liverpool will win. We have won our last three in a row, United haven't, thus Liverpool are the form team. All indicators point to a Liverpool victory.

To be honest I quite like our stadium, at least the majority of fans attend from that city, not from London and Anfield doesn't attract the prawn sandwich brigade unlike other teams.

I'd imagine that David Silva, Kun Aguero and Rooney might have a little something to say on that...

    Jus' sayin.....
