Hi all, just looking for some advice. Saw this on Aldi website:

    http://www.traveler-service.de/popups/tv_7100_irl_popup/index.php

Do you think it would be any good? I am specifically looking for a slide scanner as would love to scan the hundreds of family slides that have been sitting in boxes for years :)

No. They're completely crap. Do a forum search for 'aldi scanner' for details. You'll come across an identical post from yesterday for a start :)

This is a new design to previous offers. Perhaps some improvement? Certainly extra feature of scanning prints without computer handy.

still crap. You'd be better off buying a canon or epson flatbed with film scanning capability for a little more, or second hand for less.

it's fairly limited in functionality if the biggest print you can scan is 5x7.

Well academic discussion now as all sold out by time I got to Aldi this morning.

Queue at the door on opening. They keep them up at checkout rather than in main body of shop.

I really want to get slides transferred to digital and silly quotes from shops to do same. It would be worth it if it only did that function well. There are several albums of old family photoes carefully glued! I would love to be able to copy same without destroying the original album. Perhaps a good camera? must experiment!

are the pages of the albums removable?

Sadly not removable pages. Fine good quality albums that have aged well unlike my own family ones with the cellophane overlays of 1980's /90's that are now very tatty and photos sliding out. I could have fun if digitalised some to enhance or make into photo books as present.
