I recently discovered that much of late late show guests, along with the host himself are all represented by the same agent. Joe Duffy is also represented by the same guy. With Tubs and Duffy removed there is instantly at least a million Euro saving.
Take a look at Noel Kellys client list:
    http://www.nkmanagement.ie/

With one swoop, by refusing to deal with Noel Kelly, RTE will not only improve our lives, but also improve the nations finances.

I'll Give you one example on how Noels removal from RTE would improve your life. The following people would not be in your life anymore.
    • Twink
    • Ryan Tubridy
    • Baz whatshisname
    • David Coleman
    • Derry CLarke
    • Grainne Seoige
    • Lorraine Keane
    • Diarmuid Gavin
    • Jackie Lavin and Bill cullen
    • Joe Duffy
    • Celebrity chefs (about 6 of them)
My next concern is what does this agency have on RTE that he seems to have full controll of anyone that is on ?

Is it fair that so much of RTE money is channelled through one agency?
If a tree fell on all the above "celebrities" ...would anyone care??

Does this agency actually OWN the Late late show?

    Thread Quiz:
Guess how much the entire RTE wage bill is for the above people?

    YOU DON'T FUCK WITH TWINK.

Cap all wages at €100k per annum. If Plank Kenny is offered more than that to work elsewhere, then off he can go, and good riddance.

The mistake RTE make is in thinking that their presenters are in some way unique or valuable. For every Ryan Tubridy who won't accept less than €500k per year, there are 100 younger, better looking and more talented presenters who will jump at the chance to work on television for €50k per year.

It doesn't help that there's an entrenched old boys club in there. Noel Curran and his predecessor Cathal Goan come from a long line of old buddies with no vision and no interest beyond giving jobs to their old mates, be they presenters or people behind the scenes.

The government needs to install a DG from the outside who's never worked in Ireland before.

i dont think twink works for RTE, does she? what show does she do.

also jackie and Bill make a show for TV3, so they're ok.

This debate was around for G Ryan - making all that money and he's sh1t, but his death has brought 2fm to its knees with the loss of listenership and revenue, which kinda vindicates the arguement these high paid presenters have, which is, "who'll do the job if i wasn't here?" We'll see soon if Tubs gets keep shedding listeners i suppose

If they could come up with even one show that had some kind of universal appeal and decent production values and ended up being syndicated then they would at least be generating decent revenue from it.

Off the top of my head i can't think of a single RTE production that is shown anywhere other than on RTE channels.

It's criminal the way lisence fees are collected to fund these massive wages. RTE is an OK service overall. Not worth the current lisence fee though.

The state should cut ties with the place before we're asked to pay these ejits pensions.

Brian Ormand to save RTE please.

    SUCH a talent.

You know he more or less threatened us there a while back, that he'd go to the UK for WORK if he had to

We don't want to lose him like we did Graham Norton, do WE

    DO WE?

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Times are hard, sure aren't we all struggling says Joe Duffy on four hundred thousand....

"On your uppers" is another phrase he is fond of, simply meaning you are broke
Must be a Ballyfermot phrase as he's the only man in Ireland I've ever heard use it

I think a Celebrity Death Match type program involving the people mentioned would attract a lot of viewers and at the same time start reducing costs for RTE.

Can we not just have an Irish "I'm a celebrity...get me out of here" and then just not......you know.............get them out of there? I'd watch that.

Have Product Placement in The Angelus, Prime Time, The News etc.
Get the Government to introduce a law that says you must have a licence for every TV.

At this stage i think that late late show has run its course tbh, Tubbo is no use and Kenny before him was not much better. They could put on a half decent Movie instead of keeping that show going.

Cut the license fee to the point where it pays for the Infrastructure and nothing more.
No money should be going to RTE to pay for programming, if other channels can get by on advertising alone so should they. If that means getting rid of Tubs/Joe Duffy etc. so be it.

Bring back the Last Picture Show

In pre internet days it was great to have Brian Reddin introduce the films and give info

Used to run this after the LLS, why not bring it back.
RTÉ showed some gems of films

Bring it back in place of the late late.

RTE is just a microcosm of the national problem. A so-called classless society run by a closed-shop elite who gobble up all the money and then have the gaul to put on a big stupid smile and pretend be "just like us" as the rest of the country gets flushed down the toilet.

I'd like to spend the licence fee spent on the latest ultra-modern guillotines and then air new show called "Let's behead another name off Noel Kelly's 'talent' list" every Saturday night after the 9 o'clock Fianna Fail propaganda show. It'd give the rest of them something to think about.

    Disgraceful waste of money. .

Jesus there's alot to be done here before the license fee is justified.

I think a good start would be to fire anyone who was involved in the "All Ireland Talent Show" in any way shape or form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,798 ✭✭✭goose2005

Divide RTE into 5-6 strands, e.g. ent, sport, drama, kids etc. People have to pay the license fee but can choose which part of RTE to give it to, or give it to TG4/TV3. That would at least make them somewhat motivated to serve the public and respond to their opinions.

    Secondly, fire everyone.

They deal with TV3, not RTÉ
Lorraine Keane hasn't worked with RTÉ in over a decade, used to do a motorsport show

What have they got to do with RTÉ?
Lorraine Keane has worked for RTE this year

It's a relic from the past. Can't afford to keep the place obviuosly. FG/Labour would rather you die on a hospital trolley than cut Pat Kennys salary. Cnuts TBH.

Naked newscasters and a few fine women on Ear to the Ground and I'll be happy.

RTE is the biggest, dirtiest, incestious 'family' in ireland.
Talk about the worst presenters, zero talent 'jobs for the boys' club.

Joe Duffy & Tubbs etc need to be dragged out of Montrose and be made work a low paid job.
Joe 'Man of the People' Duffy and his 400k per year makes me physically sick.
    His show is one agenda,his.

The ridicilously STUPID stuff that he & his callers come out with is just beyond belief sometimes, god forbid anyone ever challenges Joe!

'Bad loine there, bad loine, quick get mary buuuurden on'

Joe Duffy earns 400k per year???

The above statement explains the inherent truth of what is wrong with our country.

I agree. The overuse of punctuation marks is appalling.

This is Joe who works 75mins a day on radio (SOME weeks).
Joe is on more than 400k,Marian Finucan is on 500k+.

This is the best ireland has to offer,is it?

Just privatise RTÉ and ignore the belated socialists who rally against such a move.

Don't forget Dereck Mooney, he is absolutely abysmal.
