Need to think about changing the names of either the leagues or the divisions. At the moment we have divisions 1-5, and within those, divisions 1-4. When people talk about division 3 or whatever, I'm pretty confused about which one they're referring to.

Is it possible to rename the 4-team divisions?

Decent enough week this week. Won my match up to take me back to the number 1 spot overall. Was lucky that Megatron didn't have a better night last night. A few more yards and a TD and I'd be on a 2 game losing streak now.

Team is in good shape for next week. Only one player missing for the bye week. Gonna have to rack up the points this week because I've got 5 players missing in week 8 (one of the consequences of having to do the auto-draft). The only consolation is that my opponent also has 5 players missing. Should make for an interesting week.

I'm looking to get in a top RB. I'm willing to part with Jay Cutler and another player to make it happen.

2 wins in Div 3 and LTTP this week. Still in with a fighting chance of playoffs in both.

Looking to get in a top WR in LTTP league. I have BJGE and Sproles on my bench so would entertain legit offers for either and if the right offer was there I could potentially trade either Forte or McFadden. Having Britt as my No.1 went really well :(

Alright guys I need a QB and a RB and a TE. I am interested in trading the following players:
    McNabb
    Gabbert
    Steve Johnson
Wells (only if I end up getting 2 starters in return in some large trade or something)
    Jacobs
    Bush
    Knox
    Shiancoe
    Donald Jones

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭Molly

You're not really offering a whole lot there. Wells is the only interesting one.

In Div 5 I need a RB pretty badly if anyone wants to do some trades. Anything will be considered. http://fantasy.nfl.com/league/456918/team/10 to see my team

    Is this a fair trade?

    Steve Johnson
    McNabb

    for
    Campbell
    Gates

He has Hernandez at TE to back Gates up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,099 ✭✭✭Johnny_Fontane

Could look at wells and Johnson for Newton and Santana moss

    Or just Newton for wells

Newton is an interesting prospect, but I'm very thin at RB and can't give away Wells unless I get another RB. How about Newton and Hightower for Johnson and Wells (and your pick of Gabbert or McNabb)? That way you upgrade at both WR and RB at the cost of a bit of QB depth.

who in their right mind is still starting gates? expect maybe 5 10+ games from him going forward and a lot of headaches over starting him...

No one is starting him. But thats not to say he can't be very valuable going down the stretch.

I drafted him in a league, and I won't be trading him.

Teh above trade is fair IMO. I'd prefer to be on the Stevie Johnson side of the deal but thats not what was asked

I see you have both Vick and newton, Johnny, I'd rather ship vick than newton.

newton alone probably has as much points as johnson wells and mcnabb.

but if he is on your bench then it coudl be useful to ship him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,099 ✭✭✭Johnny_Fontane

    I disagree.

Vick is the premier Qb in fantasy (sorry tom/aaron) imo. Hes had a poor start to the season and is still right up there..

interestingly with newton and now tebow, there are a number of rushing qb's, who really are the difference between a good and a bad week.

I dont think you would ever bench vick in favour of newton and for that reason, I'm giving him up. I think Vick is a better passer of the ball with better targets.

The obvious issue is that Vick will take some big hits, but this is a risk I have to live with.

Not really. He never really was. Last season was his only solid year fantasy wise. But It doesn't look like the Eagles are going to turn things around any time soon. Vick is struggling both Mentally and physically so and this is bad for Fantasy fans. I would keep him benched
interestingly with newton and now tebow, there are a number of rushing qb's, who really are the difference between a good and a bad week.

Mad thing is though 90% of Newtons points are down to his throwing. If he ran more when he had space he would be racking up 50 points easily on his own. For some reason he either has a leash on him or is trying to prove to us all he doesn't need to run even though there has been times he could have used his legs.

Tebow wont put up consistent Fantasy numbers as that Broncos O-line is shocking at best and their WR are dropping far too many passes. Inspiration or not it doesn't fix a lot of things.
I dont think you would ever bench vick in favour of newton and for that reason, I'm giving him up. I think Vick is a better passer of the ball with better targets.

Vick is nowhere near being a better passer of the ball than Newton. Newton right now is the best passer when it comes to rushing QBs. Again Vick's passing has improved last year being example but he is the same old Vick. accuracy and bad decisions getting in his way.
The obvious issue is that Vick will take some big hits, but this is a risk I have to live with.

This is one of the reasons why he is struggling. The late hits he claims are happening more and more to him are playing on his mind. You can see he is constantly rattled. If he doesn't bounce back from this soon he will be useless fantasy wise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭SSK

I'd be with TO on this. I don't own Vick in any of my leagues but if I did and someone offered Rodgers or Brady at this point of the season in a straight up swap I think I'd bite their hand off. So no way is Vick even close to being number 1 right now.

Don't underestimate the benefit of having a top class number 1 receiver in the way Newton has started. Steve Smith has caught a lot of balls that many other receivers wouldn't have which has given Newton a lot of confidence in his passing ability.

Again I disagree guys (love these boards). Vick hasnt rushed for a touchdown yet (well he did on sunday, but got called back for a holding call). That wont last, he will start rushing for TD's and thats the value for me.

Vick is going to have a breakout game, it might have been sunday, had his receivers actually put their hands on the ball, but he's a guarantee for a minimum of 20 points most weeks, with the outside chance of having a 40 point game once or twice a season.

He was the leading QB last year and had only 80% of the starts the other had. I think this year, he will be there and there abouts. Sure Newton could have the breakout rookie season of the year but I'm gonna go with Vick and the eagles here.

Time will tell, we can have a 'told you so' discussion at the end of the season!

Random fact. Cam Newton is second in the nfl in rushing touchdowns. Just behind AP and Beanie Wells. I own Vick in div2 and if I was offered Newton id accept straight away. Also Vick is throwing a stupid number of interceptions lately which really hurts his value.

Looking for a couple of possible trade options if anyone is willing to offer something for these guys then let me know:

Boards Div 2 - Willing to trade Fitzpatrick or Rivers. Looking for WR.

NFL Oireland - Fitzpatrick or Romo for a WR.

Another poor lose from me this week to go 1-4, should of won the last two games losing out by close margins both times, this last week in particular where i had scored more than his projected score with just the 1pm games over and 2 players including roddy left to play. Obviously crosby goes off big and i lose by 2.

Looking like i will easily this week as well considering he has no wide receivers able to play

The reason he is not rushing much because he keeps getting banged up and everytime he does rush he feels he is getting hit late or getting no protection. It seems at this point the Eagles playbook isn't suiting Vick this year.
Vick is going to have a breakout game, it might have been sunday, had his receivers actually put their hands on the ball, but he's a guarantee for a minimum of 20 points most weeks, with the outside chance of having a 40 point game once or twice a season.

But Fantasy wise do you keep starting him in the hope he has a breakout game? See that is the problem right now. Brady, Rodgers, Newton, Brees etc etc are all putting up consistent Fantasy points. Vick isn't. His passing is bad right now, He is throwing interceptions and his average on the ground is lower than it has been. And all of these are not helping him score fantasy points.

Sure he might have a few solid games again but consistancy is the problem. If I owned him I would want him scoring the average points of any other QB in fantasy so I am not losing games.

Last year means nothing though. Last years points are not going to get you points this year. Remember this isn't about whether or not Vick is a great player or might fix himself. This is about his fantasy value and right now he is not a good player to have fantasy wise.

U're saying that u're waiting on vick to have a couple of 40 point games. I'd be more worried about losing him for 3 or 4 games. He's a 30+ year old man. His body isnt as "elastic" as it was. If he gets hurt it's gonna take him longer to get over it unlike the young newton.

in my eyes newton has more fantasy upside than vick but its your team so u do what u feel best.

in boards div 4 i was weakish at running back so made this trade

    gave away: R.Wayne, M.Austin, J.Cribbs

    got: Green Ellis, Burress, Floyd

    thoughts?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭Molly

Felix Jones & Miles Austin for Robert Meachem, Danario Alexander and Marshawn Lynch.

What do you make of that trade?

Wayne (without Peyton), Cribbs, Floyd and Burress are all much of a muchness so its effectively BJGE for Austin. I'd prefer Austin but if you need a RB then its probably fair enough, be prepared for some up and down performances.

Jones & Austin are miles ahead of the other 3. No way in hell would I be accepting that.

Okay guys I`ve updated my trading block. I want a top tier running back badly.

Available players are : Mike Vick, Mark Sanchez, Cedric Benson, Tim Hightower, Isaac Redman, Larry Fitz, Jason Hill, Santonio Holmes, James Jones, Ed Dickson and Gostkowski.

Can`t touch are : Steve Smith, Rob Gronkowski and the Ravens Defense.

All offers will be considered. Anyone who played in the baseball league will know that I`m not afraidto go for a blockbuster so try your best. Il consider offers for the cant touch list also. They have to be very good though.

Vick is the sixth ranked qb in fantasy. not exactly a tragedy! I mean if we were talking about some of the real tragedies of ff this year (manning, foster, gates), I'd be worried. Personally I hate to let newton go, cos he's great to have, but I need the RB! And cams warming bench

    Vick:
    Week 1: 23 pts
    Week 2: 15
    Week 3: 9
    Week 4: 31
    Week 5: 25.6

    Newton:
    Week 1: 31
    Week 2: 29
    week 3: 15
    week 4: 33
    week 5: 24

As I said inconsistent. in weeks 2 and 3 he would have let you down. See all well and good saying he is the 6th ranked when 2 of the 5 weeks were bad. And with tough ass schedule ahead and Vick feeling the pressure and throwing like ****e he is going to be up and down.

Newton on the other hand is consistent. And the Panthers have an easier schedule and as the season goes on the Panthers will give Newton more freedom to use his feet.

    @Malachy, I got your trade offer .

I give up maurice jones drew
I get mike Vick and Cedric Benson.
I'm somewhat tempted by it but with a ban hanging over Benson I'm probably leaning towards not making the trade.

Vick would probably be an upgrade on freeman but I don't think Benson has enough upside.

What would other boardsies think of the trade?

Wells traded for Newton in div 5. This leaves my running back group quite pathetic so I'll have to try and get another one of those.
