build up of ice on back of fridge

in the past month theres been a serious build up of ice on our electrolux fridge freezer. something like this happened before when it was under warranty and it had to be taken away and fixed. i'm hoping that i might be able to try and do it myself (if possible) so looking for any suggestions if this has happened to people before!

if not then should i just call electrolux or could a normal service man fix it??

I got a new F/F installed recently and the installer guy (it's a built-in unit) showed me where the water that condenses inside the fridge is allowed to drip out onto a tray at the back of the fridge which is above the compressor and the heat of the compressor evaporates the water.

So I'd suggest that those vents are blocked, possibly with food fragments. Defrost the fridge, take out the shelves and investigate, it doesn't sound like a serious problem.

As above,

clean out the fridge, Clean the drains (there maybe multiple drains on the back wall of the inside of the fridge)

And make sure the fridge has enough room behind between the wall and the rear of the fridge as this can cause the system to overheat and not operate to design alot of people make the mistake of not giving the read of the fridge enough ventilation.

And make sure the door is closing properly. There might be a gap due to ice or a damage to the seal.

Check too that the fridge motor actually turns off now and again. If the thermostat is faulty, it might not 'see' that it's at the right temperature and would then keep running.

Mine does that since I bodged the dodgy thermostat with a cheap IKEA timer switch

. It runs a bit more than it should and so gets ice buildup on the rear panel.
