Well its free, that's a start...

Java enabled scripts are blocked. FTP client access blocked. Not sure about gaming to be honest. I was able to play a few games on my mac no problem.

I thought there was a fee per semester though? Sounds good, what kinda games eg. steam etc? And torrents blocked I assume?

No fee if you are living in postgrad accomodation its free.

Also yes Steam, that's the one! Torrents aren't blocked I don't think, I don't use them to be honest. But I have used Steam on campus.

Nice one! Any idea what the speeds are like? I know all this sounds really early of me seeing as its 11 months away but I want to decide if I should save up for a self build for next year, not much point if online access is restricted though.

If you have something that you'd like to connect to that's normally blocked, just e-mail CSD with your port number and the ports you need open and they should do it (eventually) with no hassle.

It's how I survived with Xbox Live during that one year I stayed on campus ;)
