Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks for that.. I didn't even notice the 43:o
It was given to my husband by his mother for his 30th... she came across it shortly after it went out of circulation and she framed it. I think she has another note too for her 2nd son but I'm not sure what it is. I must ask

In my opinion the note is worth €250-300
Its not in great condition but it is issued by the Royal Bank which is one of the more harder to come by banks
Looks to be in Abt. Very Good condition

It could be worth a lot sometime in the future. You don't happen to have a 1992 20 pence Irish coin lying around? :)

Yes there were only 2 1992 20p coins made as they were trying them out. One of them was sold at an auction earlier this year it sold for 19k euro or somewhere near that figure.

the coin you are thinking of is a 1985 20 pence piece, the 1992 20p is quite common, I think around 14 million were made and worth very little
Also even if you are talking about the 85 20p I do not know what auction you are talking about where it made 19k

No the coin I am talking about is the 1992 20p coin. There was a program about it on radio RTE1 last spring before the coin was auctioned. The reason it went so dear is because there were only 2 made that year as they were changing to new coins. There were 50 of the 1985 coins made so they wouldn't be as valuable.

I was quoting what I heard on the radio ;) Anyway it looks like the radio program got their facts wrong, it was the 1992 10 pence coin. Here's a link

Exactly I was just about to post this fact. That it's the '92 10p that a handful were struck to calibrate phone booths etc. with the new smaller size coin. Much like what happened with the 1985 20p. Only 2 of the 1992 10p's are known to be in private hands. However the radio program I heard did get this fact right, they said the 1992 10p. It was discussed here:

I've been trying to find out how much the 2008 Antarctic Explorers €5 silver coin is going for at the moment but having no luck. It's a very low numbered one too (if that makes a difference?).

Irishcoinage.com doesn't seem to have it, anyone know where else I could look?

Hi all, over the weekend we came across a tin of old money for the Lady Lavery years i believe they are called or the A series..

    There are some £10, 2 £20, 1 10 shilling note also some £5 notes..

Could someone here advise me who is more familiar with historical notes form the past what they would do if they were me.. They range in years from 1950 to 1973.

Can anyone recommend someone in Dublin or anywhere around Ireland where i could get these valued or if there is a market for these notes?

I believe from this thread i just missed a fair in the rds..

Thank you for taking the time to read this and i look forward to any advice or information anyone can provide.

They haven't moved much in value, still going for around 50 euro. It's the gold and gold/silver double sets that have increased in value.

I'd stick them on ebay and you'll get whatever they're worth. You could try the two dealers in the Grafton arcade too.

Depends on it's condition, you'd need to post a picture of both sides.

    That's a reasonably nice 1957 £20. Value would be about 180–200 Euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭Anthony O Brien

The note is in nice condition but has strong centre folds and 80 written on back detracts from the value, I think €150 would be the top end for this note
