I agree, it was stupid of him to tar all Leeds fans with the same brush.

some fans have more scumbags than other clubs and that is a fact. i have no problem going to most grounds in the uk, i genuinly fear would for my life if went to Leeds and Liverpool.

Tom cleverly signed a new 4 year deal today.

I didn't mean to imply all Leeds fans are like that. But knowing the nastiness in the rivalry between the clubs, there is an opportunity there for a certain element of the Leeds fanbase.

Some clubs probably do, but unless you know of a database that records the scumbag ratio per club you are pulling theories from the sky ;).

As for fearing for your life at Anfield, there wouldn't be a problem unless you were walking around with colours on. Common sense really.

Or walking a certain way from a certain section of the ground on a certain match day with a certain crowd!

not that black and white, even scumbags have a brain!

Safety in numbers as the saying goes.

Been over at a few Liverpool/Utd games recently and never seen problems outside the ground. Or inside for that matter.

I went over in 2007 and flew into Manchester and got the train from there to Liverpool.

Anyone who has got this train will know it stops at a few places in and around Manchester city en route.

I was thanking my lucky stars I wasn't wearing any Liverpool colours when hundreds of Utd fans going to the game got on my train!

Needless to say I kept my head buried in the paper the rest of the journey:o

I've never seen any scumbagish behaviour from Liverpool fans and I've been to many games. Considering that United are getting reduced ticket allocations for most grounds it would appear that there are far more problems involving United fans than there are problems concerning Liverpool fans.

Do away fans not generally have a police escort for when they leave the stadium, I can imagine this would definitely occur for matches concerning Liverpool and Manchester United.

really? how about them trashing the entire upper east stand last year during the fa cup game at old trafford? throwing human s*it down on top of the united fans during a game in 2005, then not content with that, rocking the ambulance that took alan smith to hospital?

attacking innocent united fans last year on the way to lime street, ambushing them up side streets, getting kids on bikes to source them out and then telling the scumbags where they are? no, liverpool fans are angles arent they, we all know that.

i also find it quite amusing that the same apparent council deem everton to have no reason to reduce allocation, yet liverpool do for united. all fans stand at every away game, its no different at old trafford when all teams come, so i cant see why liverpool need to do it.

have anything to do with the fact that they know they can sell out the ground cos its united coming to visit and that there is a chance that if they leave the full allocation of 3,300 in, their "famous atmosphere" may once again be drowned out by the united fans?

ditto for sunderland and bolton. its no coincidence that united are the top draw for most teams in the PL. united should give them a taste of their own medicine and treat them exactly the same.

The reduced allocation is alledgely for standing, which is bull**** as all away fans stand. The crux of the issue is United is probably the only team that will ensure a sell out, so they want to reduce our away allocation in order to increase the amount of tickets they can sell to their own fans, probably allocating them as premium seats and making a bigger profit. It's the premiership, it's all about money. Personally, I think United should retaliate in kind, but that's just me.

That is what Wigan did - reduced the allocation then sold them as United tickets to that supermarket crowd that came over for the game.

i forgot we were even playing them this weekend.

its typical, we always get a very tricky away game after the international break, this year is no different. and then, a trip to romania with city the following sunday...

a load of b*llix as usual.

well we got 6 aways against the top 6 teams in the league 2 seasons ago.

i can see this being a problem every season if both manchester teams are in the cl every year, as the police dont allow 2 games on the same night/weekend, so if one team is at home, the other is away and that affects the league fixtures. next season, it could be united who has the 6 away games and city the 6 home, its a very poor set up the way its done, surely it can be done alot fairer to all 4 cl teams.

the PL can reverse that by having one of them have 2 home games followed by 2 away games, but that would be too smart for them to do...

we always seem to have an away saturday league game after the international break, it was bolton last month, everton this time last year and its no coincidence that about 80% of points dropped over the last 5 years comes after an away CL game or international week.

In fairness, it's not ideal for either team on Saturday. Both teams are packed with internationals.
