My phone is not receiving photos sent by text message, I get the text and the size of the photo and a download box, I clikc on that but the photo never seems to download. I can text photos no bother.

Is there a setting I need to change?

I had major problems with this, eventually after trawlin the net i found that you need to change the apn settings in mobile networks. I had to change mine with english settings so mine would not work for you, search online for whatever network you are on's settings

Phone settings> wireless + network settings> mobile networks> access point names> Menu button> new apn> then put in the settings

    hi guys

I am picking one of these up on friday.

Am i right in assuming its likely to be a gen 2 model with the TFT display.

Anyway seems easy enough to unlock but my question is when rooting what is currently the most stable and best os people are using?

Found this which is probably the guide i will use: http://android.modaco.com/topic/335781-22apr-guide-how-to-install-a-custom-rom-on-the-zte-u-v880-or-gen2-device/

    Cheers for any help.
If you are getting a UK one it wont be Gen2
    http://android.modaco.com/topic/337798-gen1-to-gen2-tpt-upgrade/
Use that to upgrade it and sort stuff out

so ginger or CyanogenMod as the preferred option. Looks good as these both work even without rooting the phone.

will use pigfish just to check it is gen1any other comments on which rom to go for would be helpful.cheers

    Hi all,

I'm having a problem with data connection when roaming on 3 UK and even on Vodafone's network (when 3's signal is lost). There's a thread where another Blade user has reported a similar problem:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1367

I'm wondering if this is affecting more Blade users out there.

I'm using the original Android 2.1.

I have a problem with the sound on the phone. Have the volume up to max, but can barely hear the caller. If I turn on the the speaker, it works perfectly.

Anyone have an idea on how to fix this? Don't want to go messing with the phone's entrails if at all possible.

It doesn't seem to be an issue with the Blade or the settings. I'm now suspecting it's got something to do with the new all-you-can-eat data offer on PAYG. If you have that, please let us know if your data connection works while roaming (you can test that by manually selecting Vodafone as your network).

Thanks, is it worth switching from Swedish Spring to Portuguese Spring?

I bought one of these debranded, unlocked and running 2.3 on eBay for €150 including postage. Did I get a good deal? The problem is I got a present of a Samsung Galaxy Europa two days earlier. Which is the better phone? Obviously there's a price difference with the Europa only costing €39. Which one should I keep?

Keep the san Francisco. It's by far the better phone. For 150 I would have spent a bit extra and bought a desire or galaxy s.

Cheers! I thought the HTC Desire or Galaxy S would have been far more expensive than €150. Do you have a link to a deal on either for a near €150 price please?

A new one would be more, I meant a second hand one, could have sworn I said second hand in my post. I've seen second hand desires go for €150 on adverts and second hand galaxy s for €175.

Looks like I'll be sending my one back! The battery is worse than the Europa. I'm not even getting a day out of it on standby! I tried recalibrating it as per instructions on the web but it doesn't seem to have helped. Pissed off

I'm having difficulty in connecting to two eircom BB wifi modems.

My phone sees the modem, I enter the password, but the fone never actually connects to the wifi.

I can connect to a load of eircom bb modems but have difficulty with these two in particular.

What is wrong and how do I rectify it?

Just curious I have the Spring ROM on my San Francisco. It has been on it ages should I change to a different ROM to improve it? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,271 ✭✭✭Justin10

My phone has decided not to connect to my laptop anymore. Any ideas how sort this out?
Turned it on then back on and it worked odd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,902 ✭✭✭✭Kristopherus

Mine won't even ring now:mad:. Have all the settings in place. Ringer tone at various levels to test it but no ring and only the vaguest of sound in the earpiece. Does anybody know where I can get the damn thing repaired?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,367 ✭✭✭witnessmenow

Can you send it back to Orange? They replaced a battery for me hassle free, although i did have somebody in the UK to send the battery too and for them to collect the old battery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,902 ✭✭✭✭Kristopherus

The phone came with Android 2.1 on it. I unlocked it and now have Swedish Spring on it. All the Orange bloatware has been deleted. I know there is a workaround to get that Orange stuff back on, but I'm likely to have flung the phone against wall before I get that stuff back on. What I'm wondering is there any dependable smartphone handset repairers lurking locally (in Ireland)

What's the recommended ROM to use at the moment? I'm on O2 and having all kinds of connection issues with Portugese spring. Changing is a pain though so I don't want to unless I know it'll work. Is there a fully functional 2.3 rom yet?

My San Fransisco is nearly 8-9 months old, and it's giving me some bother lately.

The 3.5mm headphone jack won't sit in properly. I have to keep a finger on the jack to keep it in place for me to hear the music - and I end up putting a sticky tape over it to keep it in place. That has now broken my CX300II jack.

The mini-usb is crap. I can't get the phone to charge either with the computer or a/c mains unless I keep something over the connector to keep some sort of tension, or reach some odd angle. It's bloody annoying when you leave the phone to charge over night and see the phone still only has 2 or 4% charge.

It hangs and restarts when I try to make a call. This started while I was away on holidays, but then I figured out this disappears if I remove the memory card.

I bought this at Argos in Newry. Any point in bringing this back to them? Should I restore Orange firmware before taking it to them?

Definitely you need to restore to orange firm wear before returning to Argos with it. By changing changing the firm wear and unlocking it you have voided the warranty so if Argos return it to Orange for repair you'd be in trouble.

If the phone is good condition and the defects aren't clearly due to wear and tear I say bring it back. You have consumer rights and under those you can have reasonable expectation that the phone will be of a quality to withstand day to day use for more than a few months . You'll probably have to fight your corner though and I think Argos have a policy of sending things for repair ,so you might have to male do with that.

Same story here. The blade seems to be on the cheap side, hardware-wise, so I'm not at all, surprised to be honest.

I had the same problem with the USB cable but I'm using another one now which is working well.

I don't see how to fix the audio jack though, so I'd be interested to hear if you manage to send it back for repair.

This sounds more like a software problem. Since you're using a custom ROM, I'd suggesting trying a different one to rule out any problem with the hardware. You can use titanium backup to get everything quickly restored after testing.
