New Coloborhynchus species is largest toothed pterosaur!

    Coloborhynchus was an ornithocherid that looked quite a bit like the Ornithocheirus in Walking with Dinosaurs (round beak crests and all). Now, remains from a new species, Coloborhynchus capito, suggest that this may be the largest toothed pterosaur known!

    The specimen (part of the jaw) suggests a skull length of 75 cms and a wingspan of 7 meters, making it as large as Pteranodon, but still smaller than the largest azhdarchids.

    Good lord, with teeth like that, a 7" wingspan would make it fearsome, let alone 7m.
