Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has written an open letter to the club's fans asking them to abide by away ground regulations to avoid reductions in their match-day ticket allocations.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/oct/05/sir-alex-ferguson-letter-supporters?CMP=twt_gu
    Dear Supporter

Please find enclosed your ticket for Anfield on 15 October. Unfortunately, Liverpool is the latest in a long line of clubs that have been forced to reduce our allocation of tickets by their local safety advisory group – an independent body made up of the local council, the police and other interested groups.

Despite intense lobbying by the club on your behalf, there will only be just over 1,900 United fans at Anfield. We can't allow this situation to continue. I've said many times that your support is a vital part of our success and, trust me, the players do notice when your numbers are cut. In order to give the club the chance of restoring our allocations around the League, I'd ask that you co-operate with clubs we visit by:

Going to the seat that you've bought

    Not blocking aisles and gangways

    Respecting the stewards

Following the ground regulations at each stadium.

If these issues can be addressed, we'll have a much stronger case to present to the League and other clubs and their safety advisory groups to achieve what we all want – the right number of United fans giving our team the best support there is.

    Sir Alex Ferguson

I am too tired and pissed off to make comment on it but give my take tomorrow as I have been to quiet number away games.

"Wayne Rooney's father was one of nine men arrested today in Merseyside and
Glasgow as part of an investigation into suspicious betting activity, sources
    said."

    PA Sport.

This is going to get messy.

Kirtsy Gallagher just mentioned it now on SSN. Gulp.

The blow was softened somewhat as it came from Kirsty.

I'd have thought any relation of Wayne Rooney would be more interested in a Grandmotherwell.

    BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Couldn't give a crap what Rooney's family do. Rooney was not arrested and nothing suggests, so far, that there is any actual suspicion of him doing anything.

It's not Rooney that has been arrested, it shouldn't get messy. Obviously the media are going to mention Wayne at every oppurtunity in this story. But he's done nothing wrong, his Dad has been stupid.
Plus he's with England this week so I doubt the hacks will want to annoy him and risk not getting interviews by dragging his name into the story on the back pages.

Seriously?!? They would love nothing better than a nice juicy story that would disrupt everything.

Don't let England's qualification hopes get in the way of a good story.

There's nothing to disrupt. England are crusing along to topping their group. I doubt a story about Rooney's dad is going to cause any trouble.
The journalists probably would have preferred this to happen next week.
Then they could have had a big ''Rooney family controversy!'' before Liverpool/United.

The idea that the hacks aren't going to hound him about this at every possible opportunity is foolish given the fact that hacks have never failed to hound anybody in the history of mankind.

fwiw, the English rag media will take ANY attempt to disrupt the camp of any of it's teams. They build them up to break them down.

eg. Sky Sports News the last two weeks:
"And now we have breaking news from the England rugby camp in New Zealand, and IT'S MORE TROUBLE for Martin Johnson as the English players continue to misbehave. This time, JOHNNY WILKINSON HAS SNEEZED DURING A TEAM MEETING. This is a completely disgraceful act of disrespect towards the coaching staff and it appears that a player mutiny is on their hands." *may have been exaggerated.

Ha! The English media always seem to do their level best to screw up the chances of the England team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,789 ✭✭✭nicklauski

It's to do with a Scottish Cup match. There was a sending off in that game, of a player from Liverpool, added with suspicious betting pattern in Liverpool for a red card in that game. Hence the boys getting arrested. Nothing to do with Rooney apart from the fact it's his dopey aul lad and uncle.

    How many is it?

Adam Marshall - on twitter - has said Pogba has been registered for the Champions Leage, no. 42.
    _________________________

Nice to see him added to the squad list - but I can't see him getting any game time, to be honest.

We have to win our next two games, Fergie can't be screwing around with the line up for those two games, even it we should beat Oţelul Galaţi with relative ease.

If we do win those two games, it would still only put us on 8 points - and by guessing would put Benfica on 8 and Basel on 5, with two games to play - Basel away and Benfica at home, in that order. We will still need a strong side vs Basel away and the Benfica home game could be to decide the group (best case of us being tied on 11 points with Benfica going into that game)

Just seen on twitter Pogba has been registered in the Champions League. He has been given the No. 42 shirt.

Pity we hadn't gotten the 6 points in the first 2 games so a few of the young lads could be given a chance if we were assured qualification later on in the group.

    Edit: beaten at the post!!
