talksport saying sneijder up for sale in january...no use to united at this stage, cant see us going for him again unless the asking price comes down about 5 or 6 million...

i cant see us going for anybody at all as fergie is too stubborn to admit he is wrong and we need a CM.
Wesley Sneijder will be sold in January to fund a treble transfer swoop by Inter Milan.
According to reports in Italy, Inter are ready to cash in on Dutch playmaker Sneijder in order to sign a trio of stars who are all wanted by Premier League sides.
Brazilian midfielders Casemiro and Lucas da Silva are two of the names on their list, which could come as bad news to Tottenham and Liverpool, who have shown interest in the pair in the past.
Inter are also lining up a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Mario Gotze, the 19-year-old who starred in their Bundesliga-winning campaign last season, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United as a replacement for the retired Paul Scholes.
Inter think they can land the trio for a combined total of around £70m, half of which would be funded by the sale of Sneijder.

I think he should get back to his best should he maintain fitness and not pick up any injuries.

Ya I agree with ye that its bit too early to be thinking that.

Was just surprised to see that some people think his time is up.

The conversation came about from reading Richard Kurt article in The Examiner today I try see if its online now

Do you think fergie tried to buy him over the summer?

The fact Goetze would be a better signing than Sneijder would probably hold up that deal.

I don't think we will go for Sneijder again. He will be CL Cup tied in january which makes it unlikely that we would move for him then. He will be a year older come the summer, whihc would make him less interesting to Fergie imo. His price and, more so, wages would need to come down a lot for United to go back in for him, imo.

I rather if we bought Goetze myself

No way we'll be going for Sneijder again, he had his chance. I'd much prefer if we went for Goetze instead of Sneijder anyway.

    Goetze is the new Oezil..

Potential to be fantastic though all joking aside. Will he be willing to leave his homeland for anything less than the South of Europe though, that is the question.

Should have went in for Sergio Canales in the summer.

It's obvious I think that the Sneijder rumours were true, but for whatever reason be it wages or his lack of desire to come was the reason nothing came about in the end.

I be totally shocked if United were to make a bid for him come January or Summer 2012. Think he had his chance personally.

There's no doubt about it imo.

The question is how much did he want him and how hard did he try to get him. We'll probably never know.

And although it's very important, I think people place a little too much emphasis on the cup tied issue. You would almost certainly get him cheaper for being cup tied, and he would be obviously very useful for the league and FA cup. There's always a ridiculous amount of pressure put on our squad at the business end of the season and it's very difficult to juggle players between League, FA cup and CL. He would be a huge outlet for the squad if he was to join in January.

As Mitch said though, it's very unlikely to happen unless Inter reduce his price and he takes a big hit on wages.

Does anyone know how Ranieri views him? Does he value him and play a formation that he's happy to accommodate Sneijder in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,595 ✭✭✭xtal191

He's out injured at the moment dont think he's played since Ranieri took over.

Think it be waste of time buying Sneijder in January considering he wont be able to play in the knockout stages of CL presuming we qualify.

Anyone remember the story that was in a few papers at the start of the season about a girl accusing Cleverley of hounding her for sex, well it turns out now that it was a Tom Cleverley impersonator and the main paper involved has had to pay out some damages to TC.

I wonder does your woman have to pay back the money I'm sure she received for selling her 'story'.

Think he has a buy back clause in his deal , Doubt united would even think about signing someone with one of them in his contract .

    According to wiki

"On 29 July 2011, Spanish newspapers Diario AS and Marca announced that Canales would join Valencia CF on loan. Two days later the deal was confirmed, with the player moving to the club for two seasons, with a fee of €2 million (€1 million per season). After that time, the Che retained the option of purchasing for €12 million."

Not bad for €16 million in total if they do decide to buy him.

I fear Rio will might not back to his best, well certainly not on a consistent level. He has been so injury prone with a lot of disruption to match time. Then he will be 33 in November with the clock ticking. Maintaining fitness and getting the games is key alright. But he has been breaking down much to often in recent seasons, so I have my doubts.

Man Utd star Cleverley accepts libel damages from Sun

Sun apologises to player and is to pay damages for falsely accusing him of sending text messages asking for sex

It's a possibility alright, but if he does not get the a decent run on the first team I can see his best days gone if they are not already.

I just hope he does come back himself and Vidic are still best centre back pairing we have had at United in my lifetime imo.

But at least with Smalling and Jones breaking through we have decent cover even if they have much to learn still..

from what i remember, the tide wouldnt carry your one out, let alone tom cleverly...what a silly cow!

glad for the lad that he was found innocent here, would have been a shame for him to lose his lovely missus over the sun.

The little scumbag who impersonated him should be facing a prison sentence for that. He could have done serious damage to Cleverleys professional life and private life.

The s*n is a vile paper. It appeals to the ameobas of this world.

It just goes to show that the sun paper can really ruin some players lives and for no reason or will at least try too anyway.

But it's amazing the effect the paper has on people in UK. I mean if the Sun told people to jump off a building, bloody half of them would. It's crazy **** altogether.

You kind of have to take step back now and look what they said about players like Giggs and Gerrard in the past(maybe not initial story especially in Giggs case where he wanted it secret, but how it spread to them sleeping with all sorts). I am sure half the stuff was load of bull****, but thing is people will still believe it and want to believe it.
