What are peoples opinions on this,I know countless single mothers whose partner lives with them and they are fleecing the social.
Their kids wear Nike shoes, both adults drive a nice car, satellite tv and none of them working.
Majority near our area mind kids during the week bumping up their income tax free.
How do they keep getting away with this scam

Probably because people moan about them on the internet rather than report them to the Dept. of Social Welfare.

Because they are single mums and, apparently, we should allow them to jump the queue in the housing waiting list and then sit at home watching daytime TV whilst having their rent paid for them.

It's a known fact that the reason why Britain's teenage pregnancy rate is the highest in Europe is because many teenage girls deliberately have babies just so they can get a free council flat and all the associated benefits.

    What about the Niggggggggggggggggggggerians?</sarcasm>

It happens everywhere and because the typical Irish attitude is to complain about it behind closed door (or computer monitors) and not do anything about it!

I know a girl that went out and got pregnant just so the council would put her into a bigger house and increase her benefits, I find it hilarious that you need a license for a dog or a tv and yet people like this can have kids!!!!

How do you know what they're claiming OP?

IF neither partner is working (as you said above) then isn't it just as likely that one of the adults is claiming for both of them and the kids too, they would also get rent allowance.

The single mother scam isn't really relevant if the partner isn't working, it was only really a scam back in the boom when the partner was working and making a fortune, she was claiming rent and single mothers payment and then they had all his wages to spend on whatever they wanted no?

Very true, but that doesnt mean that there arent people doing it. An ex of mine was in a rent allowence house cause she had a kid and the da wanted nothing to do with her and when we were going out she was always trying to get me to move in with her, and she'd get really annoyed when I wouldnt agree to it

My sister is a single mother and struggles with her rent and bills every month whilst the "father" pays for nothing but his weed problem.

It says her right for havign a kid with this guy. She must have known what he was like before she decided to have a kid with him. Hasn't she heard of condoms?

Also, if she's struggling with money, she should go out and get a job.

Not going to go into massive detail but their partners do a few nixers on the side,I know because everyone else in the bloody estate knows and they make no secret of it.
I own my house they are in a council house and they can go on two holidays to the Canaries in a year.
My neighbour sends her two young kids to them and she pays thus 1 family 300 a week to mind the 2 kids.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,967 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

So have you reported it OP?

And 300 a week is crazy money, a creche could beat that price even for two children

You said that everyone in the estate knows about it. So why not report it, no one will know who reported it? Not much point on reporting it on AH!

So go do it instead of giving us your anecdotal stories

What do you want us to do, we don't know where you live in your ex-council house
