The Corratec Dolomiti 105 is currently on the Eurocycles website for €999.

What are peoples opinions on this?

It's not a brand I see mentioned much around here but the spec (from the little I know :o) seems to give some others I have been looking at (e.g. Felt F85, Lapierre Audacio 400 Tiagra, Trek 1.5, Bianchi via Nirone 7 Tiagra) a run for the money.

    Am I missing something?

    bikeradar were impressed:

Corratec have a good reputation for their frames and that price seems very good when you can buy it in Ireland with proper warranty.

Very good price for a 105-spec'd bike, I wouldn't rule it out at all. Looks nice too.

A crankset. It's not mentioned on among the specs on the link either which is pretty poor form. There's a good chance that it isn't 105 as they're already skimping out on the brakes. For the same price you could go for the Canyon Roadlite 6.0 which is a mix of 105 and Ultegra or, if you'd consider stretching your budget a little, you could go carbon with the Planet X Pro Carbon Rival - I like SRAM.

Ha ha, that's me holding back, in fairness I've only worked on their MTBs and haven't come across one in this country yet, but a lot floating around in London when I worked there, there's just something about them that I don't like, I don't even know exactly what it is but they annoy me some how!!!
    It's not bad value though.

Its the font of the Corratec logo. I don't like it either, but it wouldn't stop me from buying it, if it was a good deal. Which it looks like it is.

I saw the other day a specialized allez elite in cycleways reduced to 975. This one has Tiagra specs.

Which one would be better overall? This corratec with 105 but not on the crankset or a better brand name Specialized with only Tiagra?

    Specialized allez elite:

    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/allez-elite-2011-road-bike-ec025029

The race-inspired E5 smooth-welded alloy frame with integrated headset on the Specialized Allez Elite 2011 Road Bike is stiff, light, and above all fast. The oversized aluminium handlebars are stiff and light for serious performance, whilst the smooth and precise Shimano Tiagra STI shifters offer effortless and reliable performance.

Frame:Specialized E5 aluminium, fully manipulated tubing, smooth weld compact race design, 1.5" integrated headset

Fork:Specialized FACT carbon, carbon legs, aluminium crown and steerer, 1.5" lower bearing

    Front Derailleur:Shimano Tiagra
    Rear Derailleur:Shimano Tiagra

    Shifters:Shimano Tiagra STI
    Chainset:Shimano Tiagra

    Hi there,

Just bumping this thread as I am also wondering about this bike in comparison to a
Felt F85. I want a decent road bike for a commute of about 50K a day. Im a newbie to cycling and under the b2w scheme I want to max out the €1000 so I am looking at these two (other recommendations welcome but am probably limited to eurocycles) and wonder which one of the two would be better for the price?
Any guidance would be much appreciated thanks.

I tried to buy a Canyon 6.0 in July and was told by Canyon that their 2011 were all sold out and a new model would be available in February 2012

That's a good price for Shimano 105 Spec. Bike Hub in Howth have some Corratec's

    Just bought this.... similar value

So the majority of people here think the Corratec is good value but is it better than the Felt f85? I just want to be sure which would be the better option if I had to choose one and need help from the more informed on here.

    Thanks for any input.

You'll get a carbon framed Focus Cayo on Wiggle for just under E1100 if you apply the discount today. That's much better value than any Specialized or Corratec. I agree, I've never liked the look of the Corratec, the graphics are awful!

I agree, there's no point in recommending a Canyon anymore as it'll be impossible to get one till next year.
