Oddly enough the BBC didn't think this merited a replay after replay after replay after replay after... (like Naismith).

But, but, but, isn't it usually Rangers that get away with that sort of thing?

Even if he didn't make contact the attempt was made remember McGregor got done for kicking out at a player I think against Aberdeen not to sure though. The point is it has to be seen to be even handed across the board not just against Rangers or Celtic because they are the two teams that are mainly in the spotlight

Slapping someone on the belly is the exact same thing as elbowing someone in the face.

Who said that ?? It's not about that it's about the fact this rule has to be used consistently over the board

    Slapping ?
He throws a fist at Lafferty.

    PARKHEAD67: Contact was definitely made.
McGregor got done for kicking out at a sheep player without actually hitting him.

Its not about them being the same, so don't be so stupid to try and make out we're comparing the two in that way!

Stack clearly throws a fist into Lafferty's stomach, its a banning offence that warrants the same punishment as was given to Naismith. McGregor was banned last year for not even touching an opponent with his foot!

RANGERS can confirm today that Premiership giants Liverpool will travel to Ibrox Stadium on Tuesday, October 18 (kick off 7.30pm) to take part in a glamour friendly.

Kenny Dalglish's side are currently fifth in England's top league and the Anfield boss will bring a strong squad to Glasgow with international stars such as Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll all expected to feature on what is sure to be a special night of football.

The game, of course, will also see former Rangers players Charlie Adam and Danny Wilson return to Ibrox for the first time following their moves south of the border.

Defender Wilson, 19, who is in the current Scotland under-21 squad, switched to the Reds in July 2010 having forced his way in to the Gers first-team at the age of 17.

Adam, meanwhile, moved to Blackpool in February 2009 and in the space of two-and-a-half years he helped the Seasiders gain promotion to the Barclays Premier League and was one of seven nominees for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award last season.

In July Dalglish made a second attempt to take Adam to Liverpool and this time he was successful with Blackpool accepting a £7million fee for the Scotland midfielder.

    Cracking fixture :D

edit: 'No case to answer' regarding Stack punching Lafferty.
But the SFA is biased towards Rangers innit.

Stack is probably lucky to escape a ban with what he did. I read on another forum that Lafferty was tugging Stack's jersey with his left hand which is why Stack reacted so possibly that's why there was no action taken against Stack. Looking at the video you can't see Lafferty's left hand as it was behind Stack so maybe there was something going on.

Surely if that was the case then action would have been taken against Lafferty to

Sorry it might be a cracking fixture on paper but if we get a crowd of 25000 we will be doing well £25 a ticket is a disgrace for a game that's not needed I will be in Glasgow at the time and I will be giving it a miss

As I said Broxi mate this is what I read on another forum but you know yourself that could have been pure speculation.

The only conclusion I can come to about it is that the SFA decided it was a case of handbags between both players and decided to pursue the matter no further. While the video shows clearly what Stack done it's impossible to see Lafferty's left hand in the video. Maybe the linesman saw something, who knows?

Are Celtic fans not backing Lennon anymore?

I know where your coming from mate but if the linesman saw something then he has to say so at the time.
Personally the whole thing is handbags as far as I am concerned but Stark getting off fuels the fire saying that it is only Rangers and Celtic players that are going to feel the brunt of this

I don't think I have seen you posting on here or on the Celtic thread before and the first post I see from you is a fishing one. Let's get this straight Keith asked a question though in my mind it shoul be in the Celtic thread and the answer to that is yes Celtic fans are starting to turn on NL going by forum talk anyway KDS,Talk Celtic and Mon the Hoops are just three that have various threads running complaining about him and wanting him out it's the nature of the beast nowadays Managers of both Rangers and Celtic are never far away from a crisis

I was a bit shocked to see the amount of GTFs aimed at Lennon on the celtic forums after the game.

You only need to go back to the start of this thread to see some people looking for McCoist to be sacked after a handful of games to see how fickle fans can be. Hardly shocking

To be fair, McCann was holding Naismith's left arm when he elbowed him, there's still no excuse for hiotting someone.

Not very loyal is it though? One minute every one is Neil Lennon and the next minute, everyone wants him out.

"Loyal" subjects not paying their taxes to Her Majesty isn't very loyal either. ;)

Nikica Jelavic said he stayed at Rangers because they have "a very good chance of winning the title again"

    By ALISON McCONNELL

    7 Oct 2011

Nikica Jelavic has told Celtic they are up against it as Rangers attempt to drive on to a fourth successive title – because he believes they are better than their great rivals.

The Ibrox side have opened up a significant chasm between themselves and Neil Lennon’s side as Celtic have stumbled in recent weeks.

Rangers are currently 10 points better off than the Hoops, albeit having played a game more.

Psychologically the manner of Rangers’ victory in the opening Old Firm derby of the season has left his mark on the Parkhead side and Jelavic believes that Rangers are ready to hammer home their advantage.

“Between us and Celtic, I think we are the better team and we showed that in our game with them last month,” said the forward. “We just destroyed them.

“Last season, that wasn’t the case and I don’t think we were as ruthless as we were against them recently at Ibrox. Losing 2-1 at half-time, our confidence was down a little bit and it was not easy to pick ourselves back up again.”

He added: “But in the second half, we scored three times and the final score could have been even more than it was. We showed good team spirit and we let everybody see we are a team which can go on to win the title because we are better than Celtic.

“Our squad is bigger and stronger than last season. We are in front at the moment and that is good but the competition is long and we must keep going.

“I feel we will do that. It was an unbelievable feeling to beat Celtic the way we did and I want to keep doing that right up to next May.”

Jelavic hit 19 goals for Rangers last season, despite spending a chunk of the campaign in the treatment room.

However, he has not yet set himself a target of how many he wants to hit this term, although he does have one ambition in the scoring stakes – to make sure he is the top marksman at the club.

“I could say that I want to score 20 goals but then it puts pressure on yourself and it doesn’t make sense to think about that too much,” he told Rangers Monthly.

“I like scoring goals all the time and I always want to be the top goalscorer. I want to get more goals than Steven Naismith and Kyle Lafferty put together.”

There was an opportunity for Jelavic to move away from Ibrox this summer with Leicester and Fenerbahce both looking at him. However, the forward will stay at Rangers, at least for now.

“There was a good offer from Leicester, but that is not a club I want to move on to if I am to leave,” he said. “Fenerbahce’s proposal was really interesting but I wanted to stay at Rangers because we have a very good chance of winning the title again this season.

“For me, the best league in Europe is in England and I would like to play there one day, although Spain and Germany are also very attractive.”
