Sky HD Upgrade with no additional subscription

    If I want to upgrade to Sky HD, does anyone know can I pay for the HD Box and engineer installation fully up front and there would not be the additional HD €15 monthly sub. I assume the usual 12 month contract would not be invoked in these circumstances. This is what I understand from Sky but was wondering if any Boardies have done it and if there are any catches.

    A friend of mine had an ordinary sky+ box which was giving trouble. He rang sky about getting a replacement and was told there was no more non-HD boxes left but that they would give him a free HD box. He would however have to pay for the HD subscription for 12 months.

    Not possible to avoid the monthly HD charge if you want HD with Sky.
