Vesta Curry meals. The 'meat' was shaped in square blocks. Had a few sultanas thrown in too, which I thought was very exotic. I loved them at the time, but I shudder to think what garbage was in them now.

Also Vesta Paella, which had tiny, dried up little shrimps in it, and wrinkled peas. I think they did a risotto, too. Those meals were my introduction to 'foreign' food, back in the late 70s. Our way of eating has changed so much since then!

Those Campbells Meatballs were handsome yokes but woe betide you if you got the ones in onion gravy by mistake. Awful sh1te altogether..

I used to love chicken flavour Super Noodles too. You can still get them easily, I got a pack lately for old times sake. Bad move, they were crap.

The old Macaroon bars in the white wrapper were a favourite too. Does anyone remember the Freaky Foot ice cream, god I loved those. Golly bars were fantastic too.

They're still knocking about, half the size though :/

Most of the stuff people are saying here are all still available! There are LOADS of these vintage sweet shops popping up all over the place that have most of the sweets mentioned already- there's one in Limerick as was said, one in Wexford, one in Cork, there are THREE in Kilkenny, think I saw one in Athlone or somewhere recently as well. Surely there's at least one in Dublin?

You can order online from this crowd anyway: http://www.slipsweetshop.com/index.php

I miss Sparkles, those orange ice pops. It's really hard to get ice pops now, it's all expensive ice creams or ice pops mixed with ice creams. I know there are Mr. Freezes, but not every shop has them. HB need to bring back Sparkles!

And Crunchos. They were unbelievable, and I haven't seen them in about 10 years :(

Mikly Ways before they changed to "new and improved". The flyte bars tasted like the old milky way but I haven't seen a flyte bar around lately :(

Lyons cup cakes. Came in a box of six. 2 chocolate, 2 lemon & 2 orange. Big slab of solid icing on lovely sponge in a silver case. Anyone know how to make that icing?

    1. Puffa Puffa Rice.

    2. Heinz used to do delicious burgers in a tin. You had to open both ends of the tin and push them out. They were about the size of Wagon Wheels. (Maybe people were cutting themselves getting them out).

    3. Chicken and Bacon filled half-moon shaped crispy pancakes. Can't find them anywhere.

    4. Patay that used to come in long tubes the size and shape of tomato puray tubes. Called 'Le Parfait' I think. There was a green or red flavour.

    5. Fist sized yellow and pink cube-shaped cakes you'd get from a baker shop.

    6. Wibbly Wobbly Wonders.

    :P

I remember them Denny Steak an Kidney pies... There are still some around in the tin like that, but none can compare to the taste of the denny one.. I tell ya, slap the pastry lid of one of them things, piping hot with loads of butter on 2 slices of batch bread an it was heaven.. dipped into the sauce of the steak an kidney pie! oh those were the days!

How was the heart-attack for ya? ;)

I miss Rolos with biscuit in them. They were divine! Nicer than munchies.
Then they had the giant rolo version. Yumyum!

As far as chewits you can get them in Centra, Extreme sour apple chewits ftw

The Findus pancakes in the OP are now sold as supermarket brand pancakes.

What about Winner Tacos the ice cream, still the best ice cream ever

Mister freezes seem unavailable in Cork at least, except the supermarket ones which are not half as nice

    Tangy bars mmmmm... luminous

You can still get those denny pies. Fray Bentos steak and onion are the best though. Never mind the meat, its the pastery and gravy that's nice

They're not the same. The pastry wasn't dry it was a soggy mess that you scoped up with chips.

'cos they're getting more expensive, so rather than raise the price they make 'em smaller!

Not a food but I don't see Sodastream anymore
Such a brilliant device and this was before every shop in Ireland sold bottled sparkling water

    You could buy flavours too

    I should think so.
Don't think too many kids would've enjoyed sparkling water.
