K&N Induction kit or Panel filter

heya guys Im looking out for an induction kit for my car but they are fairly expensive as my car has a sensor on the air intake pipe the K&N one is 230 euro, also my mates have said with where the K&N induction kit is located it will end up sucking in too much hot air to be of any benefit and im worried about locating it near the bumper as my car is so low and it will more than likely suck up water so my question is do you get as much bhp gains from a performance pannel filter ??

You could do what I did: Use a 57i filter and make your own induction kit. Bring the filter to the front and have a constant airflow

cool could you stick up a picture so I can get an Idea in my head of the set up cheers

Just make sure you have a heat shield installed if you go for a full induction kit, there is no point in sucking in hot air from the engine bay, as you will be down on power.

Cold clean air = much better induction sound with (a little) more power

Personally a good panel filter is good enough for most road cars and is easily to change back.

I seen them myself my eyes lit up when I seen only 70 euro delivered but they for the 06 onwards model mines 01

Doesn't the oil in K&Ns affect some MAF sensors?

Anecdotal evidence on Td5 Land Rovers suggests they do which is why I have an ITG sticky foam type filter on mine. Could be that the MAF is within a couple of inches of the filter on them? Maybe it's nonsense?

ITG filters are very well regarded among Rover folk, make of that what you will but lads running high powered T series cars and modified L series diesels swear by them. I've a K&N panel filter in my yoke, couldn't be arsed with an induction kit, the noise off the KV6 is nice as enough without one :pac:
