User reviews really aren't what you should be going on considering how absolutely insane (not the good earthbound insane) that games fan base is. Have a read of how well written the reviews are and note the ones that praise the 'excellent' voice acting.

Anyway I'm just warning you that there's a lot of RPGs on the PS1 and out of them all Legend of Dragoon is up there with Beyond the Beyond as the worst of the lot.
It pretty unfair to keep slating it when I've said that I love it.. just because you believe in other peoples reviews or have played it yourself and don't like it.

You're shooting yourself in the foot, if you're saying the game has an 'insane fanbase' then that in itself shows that people do like it.

Koudelka was a WAY worse game!

I know there are other RPG's out there, I am no where near saying this is up there with one of the best, I am merely say, I really enjoy playing it and want to have a legit copy as I have had a chipped one for years!

Well I'm just warning you that it's not going to be as good as you remember it.

As for the insane fanbase, read the link I gave to see the level of insane I'm talking about. I use the word insane in a literal sense.

As for Koudelka I thought it was better. Sure the battle system was god awful but at least the story, writing and voice acting was excellent and it tried something new which made it interesting which can't be said for LoD which was mish mash of cliches trying to ride of FFVII's coat tails. Koudelka at least had the courtesy to bow out after 15 hours while LoD dragged on for 70 hours of random battles with criminal loading times and one of the worst battle systems ever.

If you really want a copy though don't say I didn't warn you when you do play it. Also for the love of god don't pay 60 euros for it! You could get it for 20 and even then I'd say it's too much.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,565 ✭✭✭✭Tallon

No way would I pay 60 for it... But thanks :)

Either way, it will look nice in the collection!

Expect pornographic close ups of it when it arrives from the states.

You know there is a thread that serves this specific purpose. I expect to see an obscene amount of graphic smutty shots detailing said Raiden goodness. That goes for Andrew76's stuff too. :)

Picked up a long-coveted mega CD in rage over the weekend. Was at the limit of value at 30 but then I got it home and found a copy of Sol-Feace inside they had neglected to remove! Have to say it looks the business with the md1 stacked on top, only problem now is finding games for a decent price...

You're fortunate in that the Sega CD doesn't have any copy protection (aside from its regions), you can try before you decide to buy, so to speak.

    Yeah, nice catch.
I have wanted one of those to make the MD look complete.
Of course then I'd want a model 2 to go alongside the MD2 and 32X.
    This collecting lark!
    It never ends!
Just when you think you have everything you'll ever need, you find more stuff and have to have it!

Some arcade flyers and Raiden III NTSC-U for the PS2. Think I might see what the flyers look like framed.

I was thinking it probably did but wasn't sure, I know most dreamcasts have that feature, except the newer ones when they fixed it.

Batari, how you getting in contact with all these programmers. I kinda want to see if i can get a few to sign some megadrive games now.

Common rules of this forum isnt it? Contagious collecting is it?

The problem with getting Megadrive games signed is most of the good ones are Japanese.

    Good luck with that! :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 520 ✭✭✭batari

Well I spend a lot more time over on Atariage reading through the forums. There is a section at the top of the page that will bring you a list of games and the original programmers.
I just googled for a 'mr.x atari', or 'mr.x, championship soccer' and if I didn't find a website or e-mail address straight away, I left it really. Obviously if someone isn't easy to find, they don't want to be found.
Then I just sent on a mail to whoever I found, and either got a reply or didn't. I'm down to my last few games now though. :( I think I've only two more batches coming after Steve's and that might be that.

Mario Party 6 and 7, both big boxes. Great condition, the VIP points not even scratched off.
Just another dozen or so Mario games to go to complete the lot of home consoles and handhelds, excluding the Wii.

Also got Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes for gamecube in mint condition.

Just slotted them in beside the other nintendo games in the ever expanding games section of my shelf bookcase corner room.

What is it with you and 'fruity' games?! Track & Field II. Third square down, first column. The square next to it on the right and the square below that one.

That's a rip off from the manual of that weird game I bought the other week! :p

It's a black box game, means its one of the first games released for the system around about launch. Nothing too special I believe.
