Just in case anyone wanted this lil app. I use JDownloader (also free), but this might come in handy.

EDIT: This is a downloadable locally run application (install). Not an online converter.

The developer of the FLV to MP3 Converter has informed us that they are offering a time limited giveaway of their popular software: FLV to MP3 Converter.

If you are not aware, the FLV format is the most commonly used video format in the web. The FLV format is very popular and used by YouTube, Hulu, VEVO, Yahoo! Video, metacafe, Reuters.com, and many other video & information websites.
FLV To MP3 Converter allows you to extract the audio component of the video and convert it into a MP3 file. Other than FLV, it also supports file formats like MP4, MPG, FLV, WMV, MOV (for input) and MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, and FLAC (for output).
Grab the software while it is still available.
This giveaway will be closed on Oct 25th, 2011.

Its not on line though I agree the url makes it look like that!

Its an excellent converter though they have removed the volume level control for some reason. Could be handy if the vid audio track was very loud.

For the 96kbps brigade I would imagine.

Even the "HD" YouTube sound quality isn't worth it.

Link is handy for anyone that does find the quality acceptable though, so I'm not bad mouthing the OP. Thanks for the heads up. :)

No worse than listening to your average radio and most people don't exactly have high end audio on their PC/laptop.

I only use them for the MP4 video files, to watch later on my phone/touchpad. Quality is often better and there's no buffering.

You can use VLC player (free) to convert FLV to mp3.

Also useful to convert non apple mp3s to apple compatible mp3s.

See here. You can change the bitrate. I'm pretty sure you're limited by whatever the video\audio quality is!

Personally I use the Video Download Helper FF extension, but thought I'd share this in case any "newbies" wanted an easy way. Shouldn't really have bothered.

DVDvideosoft free studio has tons of different file converters. I couldn't get by without it.

    Firstly, thanks to the OP!

Personally, I use this addon (for Chrome, but also works on Firefox and Safari).

It adds a button to the top of the video you're watching to convert it (online) to standard or high quality MP3. Of course it depends on the quality it was recorded in, but for most modern content, that's not an issue.

The only caveat, it that you should have a good adblocker (like this one) to get rid of pop-ups, etc. on the converter site while it's working.

Been using it for a couple of years, works on 99% of youtube content.

    My two cents:

    1. I use Keepvid to download from youtube - http://keepvid.com/ It's online and easy to download.
    2. I use JetVD on my Android phone. It's really useful and you can download in different formats including HD videos as well if they are available on Youtube.
