I noticed some problems with a recording last night (RTE1).

Fast forwarded through some ads and it developed a lip sync issue. About 2 seconds delay I would say. Pausing, rewind and fast forward would not resolve it. Had to stop the file and play it from start to sort it.

    Anyone have similar issues?

Software is the version that came out in early August.

Using a Western Digital drive http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Elements-Desktop-External/dp/B002E7HEVU/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
    .
Edit: Just thinking there that I have the external drive formatted to FAT so that the Foxsat can write to it. Wondering if that might be the reason the box didnt playback properly when I fast forwarded.

I recorded X Factor on TV3 last night and fast forwarded through all the adds with no problems. I was using 4GB usb stick. I have just discovered that a new firmware update has just been posted today by Ferguson. You can get it here http://www.ferguson-digital.eu/en/download/HD-Satellite-Receivers/ariva-120-combo/

With regard to the disk formatting.......Ferguson say either FAT or NTFS is OK.

    Hello Gang,
New member here, and 1st post.Thinking about buying a ferguson avira 120,sorry if already asked but here goes anyway.Need to be 100% sure, just a few questions.
1 are all fault issues on the 120 resolved.Lipsync and channel list etc?.

2 How does the "pause\record "rate with the upc system?

3 How the 120 compares to the zoro hrc 9000 or smart cx61

    Thanking You.:)

Does it have EPG for satellite or just now and next.

Also, is it not just upscaling the signal to 1080p. No broadcasts are in that format surely?

I'll put up a channel list with the new firmware next week as soon as the next batch of boxes arrive in.

Translation of the notes on the Ferguson site for the new firmware

"Note: Please note that after the update is recommended to restore the factory settings!

Please do not upload the channel list created and stored on earlier versions of the software! Uploading the "old" list of channels can cause errors in the receiver, or even permanent damage!

Instead, we suggest uploading the list of functions FastScan use as a base to create your own list of channels."

Does anyone have a channel list for all of Astra 28 (Sky Channels included too)?

unrar & open as userdb with the aliedior to view the menus,.if happy with them save to a usb stick & upload to your box,not 100% complete but all the main channels are in FAV menus, perhaps others can add & improve.*NOTE* my box is running the 2.1B5 (patched) version of the 120 firmware.

How do you tune Astra 2D in that box?

It's awhile ago now but if I remember correctly used the add function in the satellites options, when I scanned the channels just automaticaly appeared under 2a,2b,2c,2d & so on.

if/when you upload to the box did the fav menu names also carry over or did they revert to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 & 8 ???

The fav menus came in perfectly! The only channels that didn't transfer across correctly were the Saorview one's as my frequencies are different, but it works a charm!

Not sure that I get this.

Does this mean that Ferguson are advising that you upload the new software, do a factory reset and then manually recreate your channel list using the remote rather than uploading the channels dump file you might have previously saved ?

Thanks for that, Lensman. When I add the 2D Satellite at 28.2E and do a search, I get a message "No channel found !" Now I have all the Beebs and ITVs from Eurobird, but will they disappear in time?

I installed the new firmware last night. Before doing so, I saved my channel list and then after, reinstalled them.

Very dissapointed with this new upgrade. Nothin has changed for me as far as I can see. Why don't Ferguson tell you what this upgrade is supposed to achieve. Two issues for me before upgrade were,

    1. Naming the programme you recorded with that of the previous programme.

I recorded Doctors this morning on RTE 1 and it saved the file with the previous programme name. NO CHANGE HERE

    2. I tried a single transponder search this morning and it continued searching other transponders. NO CHANGE HERE.

So what does this firmware do?

Unless I am doing something wrong, this box still has issues and frankly, I'm sorry I bought this thing. I have been preoccupied with this since June and the box still has issues. Peace of mind shattered :mad::mad:

Its 99 euro, it provides a common customisable channel list for terrestial and satellite and provides excellent picture quality and sound. I've probably spent about 10k on my system over the past 5 years what with speakers, amps, projectors etc. and in terms of value for money its right up there.

Sure there are bugs and niggles with it, but what were you expecting for 99 euro? Also Ferguson seem to be issuing firmware upgrades on a fairly regular basis so there is hope it can be improved.

Ok so my old problem is still there. I do a full scan of the sat. The scan brings in 300 or so channels .I create a fav list of 20 channels including rte. I record rte. When i go to watch something else i have to scroll through the 300 channels rather than my fav 20 list. This was not the case with my first firmware only the last 2. My way around this is to go to the ariva editor and delete all evidence of the other channels i dont want.

I'm open to correction but Post #2018 seems to suggest that you should not reinstall the old channel list after upgrading the software.

Well again, unless I am doing something wrong, when I installed the new firmware, the channel list dissapeared, I had nothing at all. I therefore had to install this from my backup file. Please note that this was a channel list only. No integrated firmware. Otherwise, I would have had to do a satalite scan and spend hours editing all over again.

Can you tell me what this latest firmware has achieved........where are the improvements. I wrote to Ferguson in early July about the wrong naming of recorded programmes and its still the same after this upgrade.

Are you sure you are not confusing the single satellite search with transponders? You can edit the list of transponders. Manual states

"Channels on satellites are located in "sets". Such a "set" of channels comprises a transponder. A list of transponders is a list of frequencies available on a given satellite. In this menu you can edit, add and remove individual frequencies. Select a satellite by pressing the left/right arrow
keys, and the desired frequency using the up/down arrow keys.
    "

You can identify the channels you want and the transponder from

    http://en.kingofsat.net/sat-astra2a.php

and then delete the transponders from the list you dont want. Might be wrong about that but if I am Im sure someone will correct me.

Please note that this was a channel list only.

Theres no such thing as a channel list only , its embedded with firmware. Sounds like you are re installing previous firmware in which case there is no chance of the issues you mentioned being cleared.

I did my search from the TP list in the Installation Menu. Pressed the green button to add a transponder. Entered the 11307.00 in the frequency box 27500 in the Symbol rate box and V in the polarity box, then pressed search. After searching this transponder, the box continued to search other transponders.

    Am I doing something wrong??????

I've just tested this and it works no problem . I've two questions if you don't mind

    1. Why are you adding a transponder as 11.307 is already listed on the receiver ?

    2. Have you got network search set to on or off ?

    2. Network switched off.

Ok its obvious you are tuning in channels but why not just select the transponder from the list rather than adding one?

Ok thats the correct setting but as I said i've just tried this and it only searches that particular transponder
