Looking for a cheaper alternative to the saoriew box. There's on in maplins for €80. Is there any difference between this and the soarview model or does anyone have any links tobuy online?

Would anyone recommend using the channel editors like Ali Editor and Ariva 120 Editor for organizing channel lists? I have a lot of channels all over the place at the minute and was wondering if they were any better than organizing it via the remote. I've read posts in other forums from people saying that they weren't much more of a benefit?

I'll be organizing all the channels later today and I'm just trying to see what the most productive way is!

Its not brilliant but much easier than the remote

One of my most watched channels and I've never seen it,
Are you using the latest firmware V2.15B8?
I updated to this a while back and it seems to have gotten rid of the occasional HD freeze, The box runs perfectly now and I have seen no issues like, sync, freeze, or other, with this Firmware.
Its a brilliant box for the price.
You can get latest firmware Here

Updated to latest firmware over network but not sure whats going on. When i scan for terrestial chanels it states k_express 6a 7380 v0 and lists out the irish channels in the tv channel list but says no signal?

New Firmware doesn't contain any user data base (channel list)
I done it with a memory stick:
    1) Make a backup of your current channel list (Dumpfile.abs) to memory stick.
    2) Update to latest firmware (Allcode + bootloader).
    3) Reload your your channel list by memory stick (Dumpfile.abs) after you update the firmware and that'll bring back your saved channel list with the new firmware,

I'm sure they're are other ways but worked for me, Hope that's of use :)

Only problem is i didnt save channel list!

Just to edit this post from last night, when updating the latest firmware over the internet, the box was unable to scan DVB-T. When it was updated from USB it was.

HERE is a channel list I have, You'll need to rescan the terrestrial channels as you'll probably be picking them up from a different location to me.

ITV1 HD has a lip sync issue for me too, but ITV 1 HD Granada seems to be a lot better (10936V, 22000, 5/6)

I noticed these Lip Sync issues on the 2 Boxes i have over the weekend. (ITV 1HD and RTE 2 HD)
i have the previous firmware to the latest.

I powered both boxes down fully and it resolved the issue.

Unusual cos i haven't seen this since the firmware patch resolved this a while back

BTW is the Ferguson Ariva 202 E Black advertised on Satskelp a new receiver?

It appears to be the same spec as the 120 , but the menu/setting screens seem greatly improved.

Satellite only is the first thing I noticed.

Does not have a DVBT so will not receive soarview

Interesting. I recorded the Ireland v Russia game over the weekend and there was a very noticable audio sync issue. This was the first time I have had this problem. Firmware version 2.15B5patch

Secondly I had a program on a daliy recording. Lately I deleted the setting but the box still turns itself on at the same time.

When did Firmware version 2.15B8 become available and what does it fix?

That was the broadcast rather than receiver. It was the same on my Sky box, and was also the same when we played Australia last week. I watched the Oz game on ITVHD last week the sync was so bad.
Had the Russia game recorded, so the ITV option was gone.
The sync sorted itself out after about 15 minutes though.

Ah i didnt spot that the Ariva 202E didnt have DVT-B. (thanks)

I don't know what the latest firmware fixes .

A few people have mentioned the issue with RTE +1 and RTE Jnr with sound and no picture issue, i have the same problem, i can get fix one channel by deleting all the Saorview channels and doing a Search but it depends which one is broadcasting, so if i scan in the morning i can fix rte jnr but then rte 1 +1 will have no picture.

hope this fixed fixed soon as it worked fine up to 2.15B5

Oh, and interestingly regarding the conversation from before the Sky Sports 2 HD on Lensman's image is under Astra 2B rather than Astra 2A.

Zab - did you ever get to the bottom of the Sky Sports 2 HD problem?

Also, the other issue that you mentioned whereby when you try to scan a specific transponder, the box then goes on to scan all transponders.

That has also happened to me. The box went on to search other transponders. Having spent many hours deleting channels you didn't want, you are now back to square 1 with channels you got rid of.

I noticed some problems with a recording last night (RTE1).

Fast forwarded through some ads and it developed a lip sync issue. About 2 seconds delay I would say. Pausing, rewind and fast forward would not resolve it. Had to stop the file and play it from start to sort it.

    Anyone have similar issues?

Software is the version that came out in early August.

Using a Western Digital drive http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Elements-Desktop-External/dp/B002E7HEVU/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
    .
Edit: Just thinking there that I have the external drive formatted to FAT (so that the Foxsat can write to it). Wondering if drive format might be the reason the Ariva box didnt playback properly when I fast forwarded.
