Hotpoint Aquarius washihng machine - start and stop

Hi

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius washing machine, it's about 7 years old but has been working great until today.

It stopped working, he drum was filled with water. We got it open and I drained the water out through the filter, and I cleaned the filter. I tried to start a wash again but as soon as it started it stopes with a great thud, like it start to spin but it was too much and it just stopped.

I get the feeling the drum might be loose but I am far from being an expert. Has anyone any idea what could be wrong?

I had a look at it again today, I took off the top and the back to see if the supports to the drum were still in place - they look to be fine and in fact it looks to be in god condition inside it. I messed around with the settings on a quick spin so that the drum filled with water and it emptied out with no problems. I have a video of the machine starting and stopping. I just put a towel in on a quick wash.

I took two photos of the inside but it doesnt show much. The band that moves the drum is still on and in good condition. Any help would be really appreciated as we are really stuck. Its not a good month to be facing an engineer fee or buying a replacement washing machine...

Not exactly sure, but if you push and pull the drum back and forth and there is alot of movement possibly the bearing in the drum is brown bread.If it is, a new machine is on the cards I'd say.When it was working and on the spin cycle especially, did it make alot of noise?.I could well be talking through my.................well you know:p.Its a bit hard to tell for sure though.
