    Hi,
I'm looking to fit a solid fuel stove in my kitchen in my house.
    The kitchen floor is tiled.
Would it be ok to lay a bed of mortar over tiles and lay a slab of granite on it or would it be better to take up tiles in that area, lay mortar and sit the slab on that?
    Thanks for your help

laying the hearth on the tiles would probably be a neater job than trying to make an even cut thru the tiles,as long as the height of the hearth doesnt affect stove installation
