I was just looking at klm and they have return flights for less than €230. Has anyone ever been before? I ve always wanted to go to russia. Is it hard to get a visa?

    Hi,

You need to get a invitation to visit Russia, I did it a few years ago, I got mine from realrussia.co.uk.

Next you need to apply to the Russian Embassy with photos etc. Not sure how much it is now.

    Hope this helps.

St Petersburg is lovely. Much nicer than Moscow. More European. Of course they have the Hermitage which is a big draw. I would recommend a visit.

Unfortunately my trip was via an organised tour and they did all the visa work for me.

There are agencies that can help you with your visa. As edunne2010 said, an agency can issue you with an invitation. You can also have the agency take care of the rest of the process. Or you can visit the embassy in Dublin yourself. It is a surreal experience, it feels like being catapulted back in time to some 1960ies communist office.

St Petersburg itself is lovely and I very much recommend a visit.
