The uncles jackrussle was done a year ago as he was advised to do it with him having young kids and the dog was fairly aggressive with other dogs he met when been taken on his three times daily long walks
Today he is twice the size he was and is still being walked three times daily while he is a bit calmer it's not that noticeable

The traditional spay/neuter age of six months as well as the modern practice of pediatric spay/neuter appear to predispose dogs to health risks that could otherwise be avoided by waiting until the dog is physically mature, or perhaps in the case of many male dogs, foregoing it altogether unless medically necessary.

I personally wouldn't get it done to either a dog or a bitch - it's not worth risking the health of the animal. I know it's a PITA when the bitches come in but that's part of the game.
The odds that are quoted for the increased chance of obesity alone aren't worth the risk for a working dog IMO.

Well worth reading for anyone interested in informed options.

I use the practice in the culling of breeding stock. I don't want certain animals to pass on unwanted traits and putting them down is not an option I am willing to take in most cases.
