Land Rover Discovery 3 drivers door not locking

I have a 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3 and lately am having trouble with the lock on the drivers door. When I press lock on the key fob it attempts to lock the drivers door you can see the lever on the inside of the door move but it doesn't move enough in order for it to actually lock it. Meanwhile all off the other doors on the jeep are locking perfectly and it is on the drivers one that is causing problems. Currently I am forced to lock the driver's door from the inside reaching across from the passenger's side and then locking the rest of the jeep using the key.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong, would it be that the locking mechanism inside the door is stiff and needs oiling or is there a spring that needs replacing??????

It sounds like a sticking solenoid but I can be no more help than that :o

If I was to take the inside off the door - take the door card effectively off how would I go about doing it, does it just pop off because there are no visible screw holding it in place????

They are held on by a combination of hidden screws and bolts in the door pockets, handles etc and and a whole load of push fasteners of which you'll probably break many. There is a tool for doing it, basically a thin metal forked thingy to lever them out.

Print out from Microcat, only shows one each of the fixings though.
