Not too much carnage this morning on my route. A couple of branches down, some traffic cones knocked over. The big Irish Independent signs at the Parkmore entrance to the races were bending in the wind as I was coming by, wouldn't fancy encountering one of them flying towards me!

Walked from the train station to NUIG this morning. Not as bad as I had feared, the worst area was from the Cathedral headed towards the hospital.

I had my hood up and the wind nearly lifted me off my feet as the wind made a quasi-balloon in my hood:D

    Latest Updates
Theres a tree down on the main road on the Galway side of Oughterard village. The road's impassable at moment

Another tree down on the Dyke road

The car park at Toft Park/Aquarium is currently flooded. Motorists should avoid the Promenade and divert through Salthill village

It's not quite stormy out there (max gust 56mph so far) but the combination of high winds/high tides and trees in full leaf is a dangerous combination - stay safe on the roads

I left our loft window opened a crack and came upstairs this morning to find all kinds of leaves and debris on the floor!

Workers out on the SQR today, doing their bit on our infrastructure. There is a fierce gust along that road as it is pretty straight and heading west-southwest.

The council were out to cut up that tree and wasn't there a bee nest in the tree and they all got stung.
