makes me sick, they give the exact seat numbers so GAA should be checking who those tickets were issued to originally and cut them off. I'm tempted to create a fake account on ebay to screw up their listing.

What an Idiot. He says 2 Premium Tickets.... in the Lower Cusack Stand! Doesn't even know what Premium Tickets are!!!

Makes me sick. I, and many true fans will most likely end up watching on TV because I can't get a ticket! And Money grabbers like this person get them.

Don't make me laugh, there is nothing illegal in Ireland about selling on ticket more than face value. The guards would most likely tell you to stop wasting their valuable time.

Exactly, if it's that annoying then simply don't buy.

Without touts it would be possible to gain access to some events.

Touting is purely on a supply and demand basis.
Went to the hurling final last weekend without a ticket and picket up a lower hogan for €40 with face value 80. Friend picked one up for 20 outside @ 3:20 if you were willing to wait that close to throw in. Never seen as many tickets available on all ireland day.

Opposite to this will be the case next weekend where it will be the most in demand tickets of the year. The huge demand by all the corporates is driving up the prices of tickets and meaning lot of the dublin fans will have to pay top price for tickets.

I have heard that many of the gaa clubs around the country are cashing in and selling their allocation of tickets at inflated prices and making a few quid for the club. This has been common practise by rugby clubs around the country for last couple of years making it a nice moneyspinner

It's usually easy enough to get tickets for the final. I travel to Dublin every year usually for the football and the only time I had trouble getting tickets was for Cork/Kerry. Even then I had the option for a ticket at face value but was with a friend so ideally we wanted 2 and the tickets were scarce enough that day so we just opted for the pub. I'd imagine tickets will be scarce enough next week as well but there are always tickets at face value within an hour or 2 of kick off. Dublin will bring a huge demand on tickets though but I'd imagine there will still be some floating around. If you're from Dublin it'd definitely be worth walking around on the day as you might find some.

I totally agree it's a disgrace the way ticket's are being sold for crazy amount's of money:mad:. If we the ordinary public are aware of these ticket's being advertised at these prices surely the Gards can do something.
My husband and two son's go to all the Dublin match's home and away, they travel the country to support the boy's in blue and now they are having an awful job trying to get ticket's it break's my heart my youngest (14) has said if he does'nt get a ticket he's not going to any matches next season :(and I don't really blame him feeling that way although I'm sure come next year he'll be the first one wanting to go.
I just feel the GAA don't care as long as they get their money something has to be done to ensure the genuine fan's who go in all weather to support their team should get ticket's it's just so annoying....:mad::mad::mad: and totally unfair.

The GAA has a season ticket now, so people who go to all games can get one and now be sorted for the final. You can no longer say that they do nothing for the fan because you didn't bother buying a season ticket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,594 ✭✭✭Grudaire

Yeah, if they go to all the games, not only is it cheaper for your husband and sons, you're also guaranteed tickets all the way to the final.

How else can an organisation be expected to defend genuine fans!? :D

    They are doing nothing illegal.

They have actually done loads, but as much as they do there will still be disgruntled people. Such is life.

Look, i disagree with charging over the odds for tickets and i would never ever pay over face price. i hate touts and would never give them any of my money.

People can not be realistic if they think they are going to get 2 or more tickets. I know people have gone to every game all year, and haven't missed a match in 35 years etc etc, but All Ireland finals are different. If people know they are going to go to every match, then buy the season ticket, and buy a season ticket for the children too. Its as simple as that. it works out cheaper, better tickets, and no hassle.

I have sympathy for people who don't get tickets, but its just tough luck. My father didn't bring me to the All Ireland football final in 1990, he didn't bring me to the semi final in 95 between Cork and Dublin, but that's just tough luck, if the tickets aren't available, there is nothing you can do.

I would like to think that there will be enough tickets in Dublin, because there was a Dublin club raffling 6 of them outside Semple Stadium last night.

Sorry now, but I don't agree with this statement....Not if you're a jo/jo-soaper at least....

P.S. Where can I get myself a ticket for next weekend?....

I don't think it was a Dublin Club, it is a Thurles club with the same name as a Dublin club AFAIK. Anyway I'm in the draw desperation stahes at this stage.

I agree the season ticket is great for the loyal fans. But it doesn't suit everyone. I am a mentor in a club and like many others have brought loads of kids to all the games league and Chanpionship. We either go for the group pass or order through the club so attendance can be verified. However this does not come under consideration when looking for a ticket next week. Basically we are losing out for bringing kids to games rather than going alone with the season ticket.

And Championship games a fiver after that.

Pretty much giving away the seats.

    Well done GAA.

Great system. Myself and the kid have one each. In it since the start, only thing that bothers me is this year, the fact that i cant get the occasional seat with us for a guest.

A season ticket seems like a good idea however as someone pointed out it might not suit everyone

Of course, it's very difficult to suit everyone but I don't think the GAA can be accused of nothing putting a product in place which rewards fans - something which the poster accused them of.

I do have a bit of sympathy for people who can't get a ticket who regularly go to games but at the same time it's common knowledge that tickets for the finals (both hurling and football) never go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster and Tickets.ie. Why did people think this year was gonna be any different? If you're a proper fan who goes to all games you really have no excuse for not getting the season ticket or the Parnell Park pass which offer great value. I remember the scramble for tickets throughout the 2002 championship (queueing outside Croker for 4 hours in the hope of getting a ticket for the quarter final) and swore to myself the first thing I'm doing next year is getting the Parnell Park pass so I won't have to go through that again and I've got it every year since. People saying the GAA do nothing for the genuine fan are off the mark. The season ticket was introduced to look after the genuine fan. That said I do feel for club members who always got their ticket through the club and are now stung without one.

I have got my tickets through my club for the past number of years, I am now in a lottery for the opportunity to purchase one ticket should I be lucky enough to have my name pulled out. I have a friend who is not a member of a club but who's young lad is. He has purchased two adult and three kids tickets this year for all games through ticketmaster.

He was given the opportunity to purchase five full price tickets last week by ticketmaster and availed of it. I am lucky he is only using three of them and I have the other two.

I'm delighted to get two tickets, kids are not happy their not going. Would love to know how many tickets ticketmaster received.

My club have yet to hear how many they will receive but are hoping for around 200.

People saying you'll get one face value on the day no bother I don't think are Dubs because the demand is absolutely huge. You could get 150,000 in Croker next week. Everyone I know is mad for a ticket. You won't get one on the day for value. ABSOLUTELY NOT A HOPE. Take it from a Dub - don't bother, you're wasting your time.

The GAA reward the clubs who are the lifeblood of the game. They also have a very reasonable season ticket system in operation that rewards the fans who go and give unreal deals for kids. I mean €10 for a kids season ticket, where would you get that? If you don't have one and go to every game, how are the GAA to know? What do you want them to do for you? I mean seriously folks get real, stop moaning when there's no substance for you moaning.

Season ticket is all good and well if you are from one of the Bigger counties, I am a huge GAA fan who's from Roscommon but lives in Dublin. I was lucky enough to get to see Roscommon (minors and Seniors) in Croke park this year. The issue is I go to most game in Croke Park (and lots of league games to regardless of the counties involved), all 4 semi finals (hurling and football) and a couple of quarter finals.
Since I am not in a club I don't have access to All Ireland Final tickets and I have to do my usual calling in favours for one.
The Season ticket is a good idea but from what I can see of it,it's not much use to me.

You can't keep everyone happy. The GAA do as much as they can giving the clubs tickets and offering season ticket.

i have some sympathy for people trying to get tickets for the final, less so now as the season ticket system rewards the fans who go to league and championship games rather than those going to the final only, the value of this is great and if anything i'd say to those looking for tickets this week to get their season ticket for next year so as to avoid being in the same position next year,
