I want to get on a plane at Dublin airport and not come back for a year.

Title says it all. The last year of my life has been good, but there are many things I would like to improve on.

I've always wanted to travel. But I figured get my degree first then travel.

Now I figure something new. **** the degree I can get that later, I want to ****ing see the world and I want to live.

Ideally I'd like to go somewhere in Europe so I'm not too far from home (I also love continental Europe). I'm thinking a ski resort in France or Germany. I don't speak French or German, I'd like to learn though (why not?).
I'd need a job, but I'd only need one to sustain my living there. I was in a french resort once on holiday and I loved it.
I'd go anywhere in the main part of "old" Europe though really. Just the usual stuff, safe, friendly, easy to meet people etc etc.

    SUGGESTIONS ON LOCATIONS?

If I got set up somewhere with a job I might consider moving around a bit after a few months.

Here's the catch, I'm meant to register for my next year of college in 3 weeks from today. So I need to decide fast.
I'm gonna start ringing everywhere I can tomorrow asking about jobs, all over Europe.
    How about Scandinavia?

I would LOVE any experiences or stories that could be offered to me. Also resources, websites, agencies, etc etc.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Finish your degree. I was in same situation two years ago but I decided to stay and finish college first. Now I am about to book the flights for a round the world trip of a lifetime and I am SO glad I have college behind me and I don't have to worry about coming home to do more study.

I also agree with the above. I'd also add that it's near to impossible to pick up a language and speak it well purely by hearing it spoken around you when you have no prior knowledge of it- really wouldn't recommend doing that

Tell that to the Polish Romanians and other immigrants I have worked with. They come here with SFA English and after a year or two they are near fluent!!

@OP I say go for it you only live once and who knows what the future will be like! You may not have the balls to go and do it after a degree etc

Not everyone are able to go into college next year, a year off's better than going crazy with college and failing the year full stop.

Put this way, I wouldn't mind some suggestions:D

Mate finish your college and then go, during that time study a language, research and see where to go from there. I was in the same boat as you and im happy i stayed in college now, once you leave college it is very hard to go back!

Ok how about this, if someone *couldn't* come back to college for a year, where or how can someone go about travelling for a year and fund it along the way?

I didn't think this thread was about encouraging someone to stay in college!

Travel and make money? Teach English.
