I think she had a good opportunity here and she' s blown it. HBO would be a decent company and anyone that's watch Oz, The Wire, etc will know that they often use the same actors for their different projects.

Is her career over before it even started just for being too prudish, or was she right not to get them out for tele?

    http://www.herald.ie/entertainment/around-town/dublin-model-quit-hbo-show-over-raunchy-topless-scene-2867423.html
A BUDDING Dublin actress and model walked out of a top role on a HBO series because she felt a scene was too raunchy.

Lisa Nolan said she quit Game of Thrones -- a medieval fantasy drama -- when she discovered she would have to film an erotic scene.

The Assets model insists she was promised no nudity when she arrived on the set but soon discovered they wanted her to strip off.

Lisa (21) told the Herald that she quickly figured out her scene would involve a lot more than just standing there and looking pretty. "I was aware that the scene was slightly raunchy, but I thought it wasn't a sex scene and they said they would give me skin patches for my breasts. But when I got there they wanted me to be fully topless and in the scene I had to strip off. So I pulled out at the last minute.

    research

"I just couldn't do it. I've just started out at Assets now and I'm trying to build a career.

"People could have taken snap shots of the show and every time I did a shoot people would remember that scene," she explained.

Lisa was brought up to Belfast to begin two days of 12-hour long filming sessions, but the model says after seeing the extent of the nudity required, she left straight away.

"To me it looked like it was going to basically be soft porn. As well as modelling I study Sports Physiotherapy so I want to be taken seriously, I wouldn't if I had given in and filmed the scene. It was my own fault really because I didn't research the show properly. The money was amazing and the idea of it all was so glamorous but I'm glad I walked away because now I have my dignity intact," she explained.

And after the tough experience, Lisa says she won't be rushing to TV castings anytime soon. The aspiring catwalk queen says she's going to stick to modelling for the time being.

"The whole experience was surreal. But I was in a totally different environment than what I'm used to. I would love to get into acting but right now I'm not focused on it.

"So I'm glad the producers of Game of Thrones did contact me for the role, because now I know I have the face for TV," she said.

My rule of thumb on questions of whether women should take their clothes off so I can see breasts is generally yes, they should.

    The Assets model...
So she'll probably stand on Grafton Street in her pants, advertising Club Orange or something but won't get her jubblies out for a quality TV production?

    Silly bint.

    Fair play to her.

Face for TV? That's not the impression I get from reading the article.

I find her saying that she knows she has the face for tv slightly odd, seeing as once they found out all they were getting was the face, the deal was off.

They should have been up front with her about it.

If a scene involves nudity you don't tell an actress it doesn't and then on the day says, "Oh yeah you have to be topless."

Fair play to her for sticking to her guns.

Epic Fail -- Biggest TV show in the world currently, Obviously dose not realize what it takes to get on in show business IMO. Getting naked and filming a erotic scene for a HBO TV program is not exactly sleaze. Its one of the biggest artistic productions in the world currently.

Goes to show why you should actually use actors for acting and not models.

Any half-decent actor would have reviewed the script and the scene in full before arriving on set and their agent would have checked the contract thoroughly to ensure that there was no nudity, as discussed.

Strictly speaking she was right. But rather than walk off set she should have thrown the contract in their face and either demanded they renegotiate the fee to cover the nudity, or bought her out of the contract. Instead she's walked away with nothing.
But that's what happens when you hire someone to do a job they know nothing about.

As for whether it would be good for her career to just get on with it, that depends on the part. There's a scene in the first series where the Imp is in a brothel talking to his brother. At the end of the scene, the brother sends in a "present", 3 women, completely nude, who get about 5 seconds of screen time by running in wearing no clothes. That scene will have done absolutely nothing for their careers, whatsoever.

If it's a relatively big part, giving her a few minutes of screen time and some opportunity actually do some acting, then some topless nudity may be a worthwhile trade-off. It doesn't matter how popular a show is or becomes, being "Naked brothel whore #3" on IMDB does not improve your employment prospects. Except if you want to work in soft porn maybe.

Yeah, she won an Oscar while coincidentally doing a full-frontal in "The Reader". Career death.

It's HBO and more specifically...Game of Thrones...they do a lot of boob showing.

Do normal people actually use the word "raunchy"? Or is it just a go-to word for newspapers when a story has anything to do with sex?

    "Raunchy". Weird.

It's HBO, not some seedy unknown studio

And by running to the media to complain she now has a reputation for being difficult.
Her career is over before it began

She wasn't wrong to refuse to do the part, that's fair enough.
She just shouldn't have complained about the producers in public

She's standing up for what she believes in, i.e. herself, and not herself selling out for a quick buck. Plenty of Hollywood's top actress refuse to do nude scenes, perhaps Lisa has enough belief in her talent that she feels she doesn't have to get her tits out in order to become successful?

Doubt it was as major a role as people here are assuming.

There's loads of tits and ass in GOT. If you're not in the main cast, some of it can look like soft porn.
