Take bike cassette in carry on luggage on Aer Lingus?

A quick question: I bought a new cassette in London and am flying back with hand baggage only tomorrow. I've just had a thought that security might consider a road cassette to be a dangerous weapon.

Does anyone have any idea if I will be allowed to carry it on?

    Thanks in advance

No idea. Keep it in the box. A cassette doesn't look too much like a ninja throwing star.

    Doubt it.

Thanks. It suddenly crossed my mind and trying to explain it tomorrow morning will be fruitless. Looks like I'll put it in the post.

It's in the box but it does indeed look like a ninja something.
