I think these ads are a credit to Hunky Dory because they promote the idea that regular sporting activity will help you look good and healthy. Or something

Couldn't really care less about the ads.. but what sort of mindless gobshite would buy crisps just because the ad contains boobs?

Meh, that ad is no more revealing than most music videos put out by "pop star's".
Wonder do the people who complain about these ad's complain about those music videos too and how they are degrading women.

i have never thought to myself "hmmm woman must be thick to model in sexy poses." this doesn't do jack shit other than sell crisps.

I wouldn't go so far. I think most men have the ability to compartmentalise and to ogle these women, yet also know that that's not what all women are like and not all women should be treated as sex objects.

I think you might be putting the cart before the horse a bit as well.
Ads like this exist because some men do objectify women. I don't think they cause men who might not otherwise do so to see women as sex objects.

Also, the women are entitled to get paid for what they did, and I don't think they'd care if people thought they were whores.

the whores who model for these ads should be ashamed of themselves
OK now here is some actual sexism
Whats your problem ? Why are you calling these women whores ??? Why should they be ashamed ?

See folks - its like what I said - people who have issues with these kidns of ads have self esteem issues

FYI Alopex - a tip - stop referring to pretty girls as whores just because they are pretty and aware they are pretty and your chances might improve

Nonsense. A woman can look amazing and also be of high inteligence, they aren't mutually exlusive and it's unfair to assume that someone of of little intellectual worth because they may choose to use their physical assetts for income

Sadly this is the only chance any of us men will get to seeing top totty of this quality.
If only there was an integrated web of computers where one could look at women in various stages of undress performing lewd sexual acts.
If you got upset by these ads imagine how annoyed you'd be then.

I understand a certain portion of this. But it's all a matter of personal opinion and just because your opinion is that a woman can look amazing and be intelligent (which is true I my opinion) it may not be true in some elses opinion.

Saying "women can't be both beautiful and intelligent" isn't an opinion. It's a blatantly wrong statement.

Anyway, I got my salt & vinegar Hunky Dorys at lunch after seeing the 2-page spread in the Metro Herald!

Actually it's not that clearcut, if I was the type of person who formed an opinion on someone based on what they've achieved intellectually then my opinion might be that someone posing for pictures like this isn't using your intellect. ie anyone can do it, being beautiful is pure fluke, it's not an achievement.

See go to somewhere like Germany. These images everywhere. Nobody bats an eyelid. They all just get on with things. They also are very unashamed of their own bodies. Its pretty normal in parks/rivers etc in German towns and cities to see folks sunbathing nude - be the scorching hot young things or fat grannies/grandas. Nobody cares. Its just not an issue.
Frankly, they are just alot more grown up about nudity and body image over there
There's a lot more nudity in Germany - in saunas etc - and they have a more relaxed attitude to nudity and sex than we have (those night-time ads for sexlines are dime a dozen and far mor graphic than what we might see here). But it's not - I repeat NOT- 'normal in German parks towns and cities to see people sunbathing nude'! What are you on about? I hate to dispel your little fantasy but German towns and cities aren't full of naked sunbathers (not unless they're in their own gardens or bath-houses etc!) :pac::pac::pac:

Nudity in Germany is not as taboo as it is here - but there are designated places for that.

How do you know they haven't achieved incredible things academically, as well as being models?

There is a massive difference in nudity, and sexual objectification though.

But just because they're not using their intelligence in their job doesn't mean that they're not intelligent. You could be very intelligent yet do a job that requires you not to use much of your brain.

In fact, I'd say it's a pretty smart move to accept lots of money just for standing around for a while in revealing clothes!

In the German city I lived it was quite normal to see - granted though there may be regional variations in attitude

Strange the ones with looks and intellect generally use their intellect to get by.

I am not saying they are mutually exclusive. I am saying the video on that site portrays women as air-heads and being an air-head isn't a problem when you look good. These women knew that when taking part but thought the money was worth it

I saw it in parks in Stuttgart too. Not widespread, but seemingly not unusual enough to warrant any attention from passers by.

Munich. Regular to see by the banks of the Isar and in the Englischer garden
When did you live there? I lived there myself and the only time I ever saw anyone nudey was in a sauna

I was there on my holidays in 1995. First time I saw cock.

    True story.

Well if you see them as looking like air heads that's fair enough, a difference of opinon I suppose, others might see differently
But even if society does view each of those girls as airheads then so what? They aren't going to equate a whole gender as being airheads just by association (although no doubt a minority will but they would have issues with the whole gender regardless of these ads)

So what you think an underhanded dig would work if you were a woman ? you are somehow superior is that it ?

I don't think they look like airheads. I think they are doing a good job of acting the tongue in cheek serious football but not role. I couldn't do that. I think that you perceive them to be airheads because of your own prejudices. For all you know they might be studying theoretical physics.
In case you didn't konw there is a recession. Jobs hard to come buy. why not use their looks if people are willing to pay. Money can be exchanged for good and services you know. People need it

Sorry, didn't mean to quote you there at all!
    Was just saying that generally.

Nudity is natural - nothing wrong there at all.
Nudity in ads for showers makes sense - you're supposed to be naked in showers.
Nudity in films/plays is art - the portrayal of a story/character/message.

    The same goes for sex.

But... when nudity/sex is used out of context to sell irrelevant things, it's just seedy to me.
When it is everywhere all the time, it adds to social pressures for women to be sexy above all else, and it adds to sexual objectification in society.
While one little ad does not do this, it does desensitize people the more it happens.
Pushing norms and boundaries is only a good thing if it promotes a healthy societal outcome, which I do not believe that this does.
