Feckin love James Rolfe he's one funny dude. Great reviews of some awful games

    +1

Love the character, but what I love even more is that when you look at his other docu's/films, you really get a great insight into the man himself. People never seem to get that Rolfe & AVGN are not the same man...AVGN is a sketch character, but there's a few sides to Rolfe. The Dragon In My Dreams I found quite enjoyable

I think it may just be of its time. Coming across it a few decades after initial airing, I found it had no sense of comic timing (bizarre when you're dealing with some of the funniest lines ever written). It's mostly harmless, but there are IMO better mediums the Guide has been translated into - towels, games, books, radio. Still disappointed by the film though - particularly bitter that they got the 'Restaurant at the end of the universe' gag completely wrong.

Yes, the final line about the Restaurant is annoying but the rest of the film is fine.
The TV show was a relatively straight transfer from the radio, albeit with a number of cast changes, Ford for a start, and some story changes, again these are perfectly understandable given the authors penchant for releasing very different experiences on each medium.
The best lines and possibly the most accomplished "timing" is by Peter Jones, the voice of the book in the tv show and the Primary and Secondary Phases of the radio version.
There really is no perfect version of the story, rather the whole thing is perfect and everyone has their favourite part.
For me I love the whole damn thing, reading the books in the 80's. listening to the radio show on tape and the TV show from start to finish when I could get it on VHS.

I reckon it's definitive days are ahead though.
It's only a matter of time before the BBC make a proper miniseries of it, here's hoping the losers who made the Red Dwarf: Back to Earth get no where near it!

There's definitely stuff to like about the film. Mainly the music. And Stephen Fry. And this bit, which combines the two.

That said, I did think it struggled a bit when trying to be wacky, and the 'new' content wasn't up too much. The love story was painful. And Sam Rockwell wasn't great. The latter is a sentence I don't type very often :(

Its not right that AVGN seems to be losing his hair!

"Lose my hair? HA! It'll never happen to me!"
... until it does happen to every one of us and so man truly understands what it is to have a broken heart.

What does everyone think about the possibility of old-style computers returning? (i.e., ones with keyboards built in, using a GUI OS but also having a programming language as a large part of it, similar to the C-64)

If they involve waiting 20 mins for a game to load & glitch at the last minute, count me in!

Follow the link for the Xbox, & the link within that for Supercell's guide on how its done. It's slightly dated which I keep meaning to update, but I've used the guide myself its 100%

There's two dead links I think, but everything is named so you'll find them easily. Must sort that out soon.

Whatever pc your using, base the guide on that so whatever applications it talks about...run them on the pc doing the modding.

Just a couple of question guys, I saw a cristal original Xbox in a shop in Dublin for €30 a few weeks back and thought I might buy it but still havent just yet.

Now I have and X360 and a Wii, but as we know some Xbox org games dont play on the X360 and there is a good few games ported from the PS2/Xbox to the Wii. So wondering would you guys recommend me to invest in an org Xbox? Is there any amazing games that are not on the PS2 that are on the Xbox that would make it worth my while?

Also is there a wireless controller for the org Xbox out there or are they all wired?

    Thanks!

Steel Battalion and Panzer Dragoon Orta! Can't play either without an original Xbox.

You can play the first three levels of PDO on 360 :P

But yeah, probably the two big 'only on xbox' games. I'd have added Strangers Wrath too but that's getting a HD makeover. And not too sure about Knights of the Old Republic? Emulation on the 360 tends to be a bit off anyway (software rather than hardware), so its nice to have the original console for the best version.

Because Microsoft buggered up the backwards compatibility and never bothered their arse fixing it :(

Yeah just shudders to a halt during one of the levels IIRC. Really bizarre glitch - its like the testers said "oh, the first level works" and didn't bother playing through the rest.

Imagine Boulder Dash where Rockford was in a giant mech which you controlled using one of these -
