It's not on a level as For Emma. But I will give him his credit for willing to experiment nad develop. He's growing and developing as a musician and producer but I think he needs more time in the studio to find some concrete sound and practice his technical abilites, there's too much cliched synth in the background, not original at all. But I like the idea of the songs and am haunted by Michicant and Holocene. Im very excited about Vernon's potential to make an absolute masterpiece in the next 3/4 years but this is not it but it satifies the taste buds.

I simply think the album is stunning. Everything from the layering of instruments to the incredible melodies is just perfect for me. I don't think Justin Vernon can do wrong to be honest.

Favourites on first listen were Towers, Hinnom TX, Wash & Calgary..

On second listen now, it certainly won't be my last..!
    Really like it so far

This a grower for me. It's not the instant love I had for the first album but it is growing on me more and more with each listen.

I heard Perth on the radio the last day and was blown away by it, so went out and bought For Emma and Bon Iver. Haven't even listened to For Emma yet because Bon Iver is so great.

    I envy you.
Discovering a band as good as this, and listening to their tracks for the 1st time is a beautiful thing.

Its really grown on me, my favourite song on it keeps changing, and I find its the one album I keep coming back to.

And I havent even listened to for emma yet.

Have my tickets to see them when they're here in October. To say I'm psyched would be the understatement of the century.

A great, great album. I found it took me a few listens to really get into it. I also really like Beth/Rest, no matter how cheesy it is :p

I must admit I didn't like this album at all. It doesn't seem to have the same quality of tunes that "For Emma..." did. I gave it 4 listens but maybe I just didn't get it. "For Emma..." is a total classic though so here's hoping for part 3.

this album has much finely crafted songs than for emma, i much prefer how he plays the for emma songs now too. emma's a great album but it's all about progress.

Don't do what I did initially and write him/them off after one listen.

So much listening time I've wasted. :(

Good album but not as good as For Emma, which is a genuine classic album, imo.
