I'd like to think it cool. But what's cool is subjective to the person. So, no.

Not really a cool surname - but I heard a guy on the radio the other evening. He was Doctor Harry Barry! I couldn't take the guy seriously.

Yeah, I think I do. It is Danish, from my dad's side and I have not met anyone in Ireland with the same surname :)

I have American cousins that are Gillespie :)

I love my surname :D:D Originated around Mayo and Sligo and managed to work its way down to the South East :) I think my surname rocks :D

I thought it meant servant of the bishop. The pre fix gil or mul usually means servant/follower. I think Gillespie is irish (originated in Donegal acording to wiki), altough there is a Scottish variant.

I will when I marry my OH. He has a 'famous person name' (both first name and surname) and I will have the same name (again both first name and surname) as that famous person's wife. That's kind of cool.

    Not cool, maybe distinctive.

I can't think of any cool surnames; forenames can be pretty cool, but not really surnames.

Mine's quite British and regal sounding (it's neither), like I should be at least a Lady. Fortunately I'm not ;)
