Johnson this morning gave another possible reason for Bolts false start. He showed that Blakes left knee (next to Bolt) flinched and then Bolt false started.

There can't have been much difference between Blakes twitch and Chambers on the computer. Bolt wasn't aware that it was that twitch that set him off though if that is what did.

Sprinters should wear blinkers like they put on horses so that they can't see what is going on next to them.

Heh, that would pretty much take away Jason Smyth's entire field of vision...

Bit of gamesmanship there if that is true.

Does anyone have a timetable of events for the Irish athletics taking part over the next week at the Championships?

They showed it again there about 30 mins ago and Blake does flinch but very minimal, nothing compared to Chambers flinch possibly could have been enough to put him off.

These ad breaks on C4 are driving me insane. They had a break about 10 mins ago then interrupted Michael Johnson & Seb Coe to go to another break. And look, another ad break exactly 5 mins after the last one. This is a joke.

But the 10k yesterday was uninterrupted, the morning sessions have been uninterrupted (as far as I've watched them back before the evening ones have started), and it gives me plenty of stuff to fast forward through. Seemed to be loads of throws getting shown in the morning stuff as well from what I saw.

BBC still way better though and there is definitely too many ads.

Video on homepage shows exactly where Blake moved. Pretty substantial really, surprised more's not been made of it.

Is it me,or did that look intentional from Robles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,010 ✭✭✭velo.2010

Robles grabbed Liu's arm. Look at the slow-mo, he knew Liu was coming and whether it was just instinctive or deliberate his arm extended even more and his hand started to open over the last 3 hurdles. No wonder he was disappointed at the end, he knew he didn't win that fairly!

Hope there is a re-run, highly unlikely though.

It looks to me like Robles intentionally knobbled Xiang, he'll get away with it though.

Jeter vs Shelly Ann should be a cracker

Ya,really hope the Chinese lodge a complaint, once you could get away with as accidental, doing it twice when it looked like the first didnt slow him makes it look bad.

A great women's 400 race a controversial result in the 110 hurdles and a disappointing result in the women's 100.

    a disappointing result in the women's 100.

I suppose you're talking about Jeter winning? Her history maybe, the fact she came out of knowhere a couple of years ago to post all those fast times!

Yeah it's excellent, really liking Dean Macey as a commentator.

The Chinese team have lodged a protest about the result of the 110 hurdles.

Makes more sense for him to be the commentator for field events than using Jonathan Edwards doing it on the BBC. He also does bob sleigh commentary having done a few races in that as well.

Cue counter appeal. It still doesn't give Liu the win, unless they have a re-run sans Robles.

Its a pity they clashed, it was a superb race with Liu on his way to a memorable victory. This won't satisfy him either as the gold was coming his way if the race was incident free. Andy Turner will hold off on the celebrations as Cuba will counter appeal for sure.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,146 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

Robles seemed to have a pretty wild right arm all the way along and Liu was moving over close to him for a couple of hurdles before. Think he messed up the 3rd from last and that then sent him further into Robles wild right arm, which then made him totally screw up the 2nd from last etc...

I don't think the protest will stand, I expect Robles to keep the gold.

Did the lad that the pole vault broke on get to go again? Maybe he was injured after it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,199 ✭✭✭G-Money

The Cuban counter-appeal was not approved so Richardson keeps the Gold. I guess that means Andy Turner gets Bronze. Probably not the way he wanted to get it though.

David Oliver was a non-participant pretty much.

Surprised to see this on Channel 4, and surprised there's no RTE coverage at all even highlights of Irish athletes.

I saw a trailer where C4 will broadcast the paralympics next summer, are they doing the Olympics next year as well?.

Just back from the stadium. An interesting night. Epic Pole Vault battle and very surprising to see the Pole and Cuban beat Lavillenie. The women's 400m was the race of the championships so far. Gutted that Allyson couldn't squeeze past Montcho, but she ran a PB on the big occasion. Can't do much better than that on the day. I reckon this will impact her chances of getting 4 in a row over 200m though.

The hurdles was a great race but soured now by the news of Robles' DQ and the fact that Liu was unfairly denied gold. Not the way Richardson would have wanted to win either.

Not happy with the result of the women's 100m. I'll say no more on that!!

Also, I was right on the start line for the 100m and VCB was nearest to me, and got an absolutely dreadful start. Not sure if she'd have won anyway but it certainly didn't help her. Pity.

Great to see both Borlee's in the final of the 400m. I can't see Merritt losing, as much as it pains me to say!

Seen Steve Hooker for the 4th time in 3 days. Just chilling around. What a champ! Some high profile athletes would have just pissed home by now.

EDIT: Just looked at the reaction times of the 100 and VCB was 0.234 to Jeter's 0.167. That's where she lost it.

No idea if C4 are broadcasting the Olympics but the BBC are doing full coverage.
