Its time to abolish the dole for anybody that has been on it since pre 2007. This country can no longer afford to pay dole to people who never wanted to work,Anybody who was farting at home during the boom should get no dole.

100% agree someone on the dole since 2007 is nothing but a waster and leech on this country. But what you suggest is never going to happen unfortunately

I don't even think this warrants intelligent replies, as the op is just foolish and impossible.

Moronic idea. Abolishing the dole will dramtically increase violent crime rates. Extra policing, more spent on healthcare, social workers etc = more than you just saved abolishing the dole. Cue many more homeless too.

The dole in Ireland for a single person is on the low side compared to our cost of living index.

Oh yeah, and I've just stuck you on my ignore list, OP.

It's never going to be abolished.

But for those people who have been on it since pre-2007, I reckon it should be at least halved, pending a means test or an examination of the circumstances. Laziness shouldn't be rewarded

No Ted, have to disagree with you there, not everybody. I know of a few guys working in sales, in their mid-fifty's, that lost their jobs before the crash and they couldn't find other work. Lots of companies don't want to hire older workers.

What about people that came home for lunch, farted, and then went back to work?

The one with the cap on it, DUH.

The spoon end (rather than the handle).

In fact I prefer to use a tea spoon rather than a bottle opener as it's faster.

OP, if you're at work, try doing some instead of dossing on Boards.

How did we ever evolve, stopped living in caves and make something of ourselves as a species without the gentle hand of the welfare state to assist us?
