A friend of mine had a vasectomy recently at the age of 25. He has 4 kids. He had twins at 18 then had two more.

Anyone know someone younger than that to have had a vasectomy?

I think your friend has finally learned the age old tale of cause and effect. Four kids at 25? Poor f*cker.

He doesn't even like his girlfriend, they had a one night stand when they met and she got pregnant. He's basically counting down the days until they're 18 so he can get up and leave. Does his best to avoid the company of his girlfriend any chance he gets.

Why doesn't he just leave?? That's no way to bring up children... better to be separated parents than parents who hate each others guts...

Plus, he doesn't seem to have a problem riding her if he went on to have two more kids with her AND is after getting a vasectomy...

I'm 27 and have given serious consideration to getting one as I never want kids. I think the only think that's stopping me is I'm a bit squeamish about the whole thing...

I don't think they'll let you get the snip unless you have kids and are a certain age

You have to have counselling sessions and stuff like that... same as tubal ligation for females.

Im fairly sure they wont give you a vasectomy at 27, reason being you don't have any kids right now but could change your mind over the next 10 years. I'm really surprised the op's friend got one at 25, that's the youngest i've ever heard of. He must have plagued his doctor about his mental state of mind,he must have told him he was suicidal or something to that effect.

Contraception and restraint or major surgery.

    Let me think now.

I don't think it should be that hard to get your tubes tied. Maybe there should be a minimum age, but I think 25 or older, you're old enough to have made a decision. I've been considering it for the past 10 years if not more, and I'm certain I don't want children. it seems stupid to have a worry like that hanging over you iwth a missed period when it could easily enough be taken care of.

They were very reluctant to do the operation on him but he got it done in the end after he agreed to counselling etc..

Is that not age discrimination? At what stage do I get granted the respect for my decision not to have kids. "Oh you might not want kids now at 45 but who knows what you'll want at 55."

It's hardly major surgery, I don't think you're even put to sleep for it, and it's reversible.

Come to think of it, mandatory vasectomies after for all boys sounds like a good idea to me!

No....your not put to sleep for it...

Just get the local jab for it.....You should be in and out the door in about an hour..

    It's not always reversible.

Maybe it is age discrimination, maybe not. I think the problem is, so many people get it done when they think they are fully sure they don't want any more kids only to find a few years later, their relationship has finished and they are with someone new who they want to have kids with.

I've got a friend of mine she's 32 years of age with only 1 child and under no circumstancess will they tie her tubes til she's 35.

They won't do the surgery unless you have kids already and past a certain age.

I'm 24 and I've two children, they won't even entertain the idea with me for at least another ten years.

What a ridiculous double standard. this guy can decide to have children at 18 regardless of how responsible he is...but if you decide you don't want children then you have to have children in order to prove that you know you don't want them!! doesn't make sense to me...

In any case, twins at 18, im surprised this guy didn't skip the country and change his name, never mind going back for more!

I'm 26 with 2 kids and can't have anymore kids even if I wanted to.
My womb causes me so much pain and causes me to be completely debilitated much of the time.
They won't even consider removing it for me.

I think it's ridiculous that anyone can bring a life into the world, nomatter what their mental state, physical state, ability, wishes, etc...
People who just should not be parents can have as many kids as they want.
Yet we do not have the right to remove the chances of us having kids if we so wish.

I can't see how it's not discriminating; though I won't be going through the courts anytime soon to force one through. I kind of understand if someone doesn't want anymore kids as they may change their mind if they end up in a new relationship but there are those of us out there who will never want kids and would be pretty annoyed if refused the surgery on the sole grounds that "ah sure what would you know at your age".
It's not like I've given it a weekend's drunken thought, I've weighed up my feelings on the subject for a long time in my early twenties and made a decision that for me the cons of having a child way outweigh the pros, it's not even a close call.

4 kids at 25.... uuuugh... I don't even want to be responsible for an animal at 25, nevermind kids...

If he is a catholic then he most certainly should not get a vasectomy. He should use up all the sperm he has in him for procreation. It is God's will:

Personally I think anyone who has a child before 25, and doesn't have the financial capability to take care it, is an idiot. You should have used contraception. We're all human (I hope), we should all have the mental capacity to plan ahead. If you want children, create an adequate financial base so that you can feed them and give them a decent education in the future. Why should society have sympathy on someone who doesn't use the head, as they say "It's your baby". Sorry if I'm offending some people by speaking so bluntly on the matter but it's just my opinion.
