A friend of mine told me that the reason we have cats is because years ago in egypt during the time of the pyramids, people used to wash there clothes in the Nile river using an ancient type of soap.

The soap would flow down the river further into africa where the tigers and lions would swim in it, the soap would then cause the tigers and lions to shrink just like clothes shrink in a wash.

And thats why we have cats?

I think it might be bull**** but maybe here is some truth to it.

    wtf....

    drinking much?

I've got a tiny hippo in my pocket.

It only took me 1000 bars of Dove to get him that small.

To be fair, I think I would only ever have a cat to put empty smarties tubes on it's legs and make it walk like an AT-AT.

Say goodbye to your fingers if you try :p

We have cats to hear them purr. Its a cute spund. They love a good scratch behind the ears.

But if they hiss, they get a rolled up newspaper on the nose

Cat where worshiped in ancient egypt, ever wondered why?

A documentary I was watching earlier said it was because the Egyptians thought they looked funny. Vast cat heads were even built underground:

I am the proud *owner* of a clowder of cats. They use me every day to do their bidding. They bring presents which I cannot stomach.

However, their purr is the most relaxing sound in the world. I love my cats and am sure the feeling isn't mutual :D.

And they scare the hell out of my dogs..

I find that behaviour a little pathetic though. I prefer a strong willed animal who won't put up with any sh1ite.

I can understand what you are saying :)
But which animal would gladly attack any intruder in your house. Who would bring to your attention someone is jumping over the backwall or trying to break into said house :) ... a dog will :)

Our cat does this too :)
There is a thread in AH about burglaries where i described finding our cat clawing the jeans off a young lad who broke into our house via the utility room and promptly tried to escape out the back door as the cat mauled him!!
He also goes ballistic when the neighbours kids are on our back wall
He attacks any dog who wanders innocently into our garden
Basically he's a guard cat! Slightly psycho but extremely clever and very protective of our household (and very gentle with our 8 month old)
